This is the time of year when my pollen allergies are at their worst, which usually puts me off wanting to punt. While of course, hay fever isn't contagious, I can't imagine it being appealing for WGs to face a punter with symptoms.

If you also suffer from hay fever, how do you manage your allergies with punting? Do you avoid punting until your worst pollen periods have passed, or do you find ways through it?

Just a case of finding which type of hayfever tablets work for you as some use different drugs. Failing that Haymax is a wax barrier that is virtually oudourless so just a small amount under your eyes and inside the nostril and works fine for a decent period, but also the air con in the car is a good way of calming it down for me

Some OCM pills can also cause drowsiness - not good if you're doing the post punt drive home.

Nutritional Yeast may help but always do your own research and check with your doctor;

I take antihistamines everyday at this time of year.
But too play safe I have a couple of Squirts of beconase nasal spray before I go in.
Face down getting a massage with your nose dripping is not a good look if you're looking for extras  :thumbsup:

I get hayfever pretty bad... being in the city or busy town with all the fumes etc helps compared to the countryside.

I find Fexofenadine work well for me. The others like Cetirizine Hydrochloride or Loratadine just don't cut it for me personally. The boots brand is much cheaper then Allevia. And then like other say a top up with nose spray in the morning and evening helps.

I believe the original poster is asking more about how hayfever affects punting and their ability to punt, rather than what remedies are possible for it, which should be a discussion with a healthcare professional such as your GP or a pharmacist.

Waste of time as the drug in the Beconase spray takes half a day to a day to start being effective.  Maybe you're getting some relief from the fluid of the spray rinsing away allergens from within the nose, in which case you may as well just use saline nasal spray,. or maybe even Otrivine for something fast-acting.

Best place for medical and healthcare advice are the healthcare professionals, the experts, who are also accountable for what they advise, unlike anonymous random people on internet forums.
Plenty of good expert advice to be found on the NHS and Allergy UK websites too
