Hey guys,

My company is flying me to Mumbai w/c 22nd June for a tech event, i'm there for the week but from Friday midday I'll be packed and ready to head to either Thailand (Bangkok or Phuket) or Vietnam for the weekend

With weather in mind, and the general scene this time of year - any recommendations on which option to take?

Thanks!

Considering you're asking on UKP and not Tripadvisor. I'd say Thailand hands down.

If you're heading Bangkok then Pattaya is only 2 hours and £4 away from there

Mid June is into the rainy season! Vietnam, on a map, is long and thin and I think the middle bit has a different climate to north and south of it which seems similar to Thailand’s’! I don’t think it rains all day and every day but it’s worth taking it into account!
And yes if you regard punting as your main reason for the visit - then Thailand definitely! You say weekend so I presume you mean 2 or 3 days ! So Bangkok or Pattaya and not Phuket! Phuket has much better “sightseeing “ with great beaches and islands etc but not so good in the rainy season! And you don’t want to get distracted or waste time- you can have a great time in Bangkok ( sukhumvit road area near Soi 4 (Nana) or soi cowboy ) or Pattaya ! The £4 uk475 mentioned is the bus and you may or may not be lucky on timings - I always just take a taxi ( pre-booked it’s only about £23 and of course to your hotel direct!
But definitely Thailand's for the best “play fun”!
