Regarding my last post. The guy is back again, now offering £500 for client's phone numbers and message screen shots.
He is also now claiming to be from the adult toy site Simply Pleasures (he is not).

Unfortunately as seen from the screenshot some women are actually sending him numbers. I have no idea what his motive is apart from blackmail. Be very careful. He seems determined and is using various numbers.

SS aren't the best target market for sex toys.

I use a separate number for punting so no worry to me.

What a terrible attempt at a scam :sarcastic: Why is he using sex toys as an excuse and what sense does asking for messages make in the context of a plausible sounding scam

Cheers for posting Estella, I needed some entertainment today :sarcastic:

This should be reported to the Police, this is someone they need to keep an eye on,  surely?

Why is it terrible ? He is supposedly offering money for screen shots of message lists , will pay half the money for the first 50 messages .
From the screen shot most are just numbers so whoever it is can just extract the numbers and mass message. Maybe even the you wasted my girls time type message.
It’s two way really promise to the girl of money which they won’t get and potential for money from the numbers they collect .
Hopefully most girls wouldn’t just send the screenshots , but there will be some

What can you report? Until he tries contacting or blackmailing victims no rules have been broken

I was going to suggest the screenshot example of number lists, could have been easily recreated but unfortunately that is an example of some of the type of message some SPs receive. That said could still be made up, by someone who is in the business, and may not even be a man behind the typing.

Maybe you could give him the numbers of the scammers who text SS demanding money?

They could meet up with some toys.

Yep, unfortunately technically he's not done anything wrong.

I need to repeat again- he is not working for a sex toy website - this is all rubbish. Last time he said he was working for a recruitment agency or something similar.

The screenshot he sent me seems genuine, he speaks perfect English so most likely is British and I'm almost certain its a guy (pimp, wannabe pimp, deluded timewaster).

And he must actually be paying, because there's no way an escort would send the screenshot without getting payment first :/

I will inform the police so at least there's a record. Not posting his number here, if someone contacts him he'll just get a new number.

Has he given any clue to where he's based or operating from? Any specific part of the country?

The message to you states they will pay half after you send the first 50 screenshots, its a phishing exercise, unfortunately it takes just one person to do this and they will have a couple of hundred numbers  and no doubt they will just block . Probably thinks using the sex toy company makes it sound more legit

Any message they send to the numbers received will not be in relation to the sex toy company

You could look at who-called.co.uk and put in the number and see if anyone has flagged the number and reason

But best to block and report as spam from your phone and forward the message first if its an sms to 7726

It’s suspicious behaviour, they should be aware of of it, whether they do anything or not is another matter.

Thanks Estella - what did the police say about it?

Simply Pleasure is a real company. I imagine they would not be pleased to hear this scammer is using their name.

Why, its not a crime tbh. Probably classed more as marketing here.

It's something they should be aware of, phoning the local police and asking if they have Dedicated Liaison Officers (DLOs) and if they do speaking to them is the way to go. They will record the details and if anything comes of it they're forewarned.

To tell people not to report something suspicious in the sex trade is, well crazy.

Selling customer phone numbers etc is against GDPR, it is an offence and crime.
