Firstly thanks for continuing to develop the experience of the site.
The last page and a half makes interesting reading - I recall when in corporate life the Systems Director once said to me that whenever consulting users on developing a new system the vast majority wanted no change.
I take the point of requiring better mobile usability in bringing in new members, mobile is clearly the way many people wish to research these days. I suspect the Forum has an older demographic though and personally, like some above, I would always use a laptop rather than a phone. My feelings towards the new version are therefore from that angle. I have recently returned from 2 weeks away where I only had access to my mobile and found things quite difficult for the many reasons stated, so on balance think I would have found the new version easier.
I echo some of the comments above;
I like the fact that there is less horizontal scrolling. Previously when in a situation where I only had the mobile option I would have to enlarge the view and be scrolling across endlessly. The new style avoids that.
The major downside is that you lose the simplicity of a table of reviews. There is no quick glance, but I appreciate that you can toggle between the classic site and mobile site so you could have your glance view on the classic site, go into a review and switch to mobile to view it.
The tabs area is large and dominant, takes up too much of the screen.
Everything seems a bit uniform in size and style. It would be easier on the eye for different sections to be separated by use of lines, or colour, or font size. Similarly the break between each review.
Some of the other members who have commented above clearly have more experience than me in these matters. I would tend to follow their guidance and thank them for taking the time to share their opinions.
PS as an aside. I was looking at the mobile version on my phone, opened up the page on my laptop and found I had to log on again. Not a problem and I doubt I would want to open both devices at the same time anyway, but thought it may be worth mentioning.
