It's ironic ain't it. We all have an hobby that the more you partake the more it dominates your thoughts. The buzz from a punt (all aspects) is mega and if it were a "normal" hobby you'd be sharing it with your mates but not this one, it's sommat you can only share on here really. You don't know if you're mates punt or not, you cannot ask and they wouldn't tell and is too risky to home life, trust no-one etc.
After a good punt I'm bloody buzzing, any other hobby and you'd be calling your mate "ere Bob, what a fuckin brill shag she is, I'll be going back there bla de bla"
But alas, it's not like that, to share your experiences with like minded individuals you gotta come online to a forum like this.
Just thoughts wandering through my head, put your input in of you feel like it

Good advice. I was like that in the first few months, but after a couple of bad punts in quick succession a couple of months back, I study form a little more carefully now. FWIW, planning ahead and having a couple of punts booked in advance stops me from punting too much. Two booked for Jan and that's my lot.

I couldn't agree more. Of course the reviews and warnings etc are probably the main reason we all come here but almost as important, is that it gives people the opportunity to chat, enthuse and sometimes moan (even if only anonymously) about our mutual hobby. A good punt is a brilliant buzz and it is nice to be able to discuss it, something that 99% of us are not able to talk about in "real" life.

Good post, agree with all you've said. It's a brilliant hobby and I enjoy it every bit as much as landing a salmon on a river or my seat at the match..same stuff really, thrill of the chase, the tension and build up and getting yer rod pulled, then hitting the back of the net!

One life, live it to the full...great to share the the joy on here though
