Before meeting, I asked for all the service details and everything sounded genuine. When I arrived on the street, I asked for the house number. That’s when I was told I needed to pay half the amount upfront before I would be given the address and allowed in.
I was hesitant, so instead of paying the full half amount immediately, I transferred £30 first. I was told that if I couldn’t pay the remaining amount, the £30 would be refunded. That refund trick made it seem more genuine, so I ended up transferring the remaining amount to make up the half payment. In total, I transferred £65.
After that, instead of receiving the house number, I was suddenly told I needed to contact her “boss” for a verification process. Apparently, she would issue me a “passcode” that I would then need to show her before being allowed inside.
At that point, it started sounding suspicious, but I decided to see where it was going. They asked for my name, phone number, and postcode to supposedly put me into some database. Then came another demand — a £100 refundable “security deposit.”
That was the moment I realised this was most likely a scam. I asked them what kind of safety or security £100 was supposed to provide when I hadn’t even been given the house number or seen the lady in person yet. I explained that I was already there and fully willing to pay once I was inside and had actually met her.
They insisted it was “procedure” and said if I didn’t pay, the meeting would be cancelled and my money refunded. I told them to refund me because none of this felt trustworthy anymore.
I was told the refund would arrive within an hour. It’s now been several hours and I’ve been blocked completely.
So this is just a warning to others: the pictures may look attractive and convincing, but it’s not legit. It’s a scam. Thankfully I stopped at £65. If I had paid the so-called security deposit as well, I would have lost £165 instead.
A blessing in disguise, I guess. Beware.
