Having chatted to one of my regular punts, they concurred with these views. I have been going to GUMs on a regular basis for years now and this isnt the advice i get at all. Usually the staff say dont punt but if your intent on doing so do OW only. As they say i have no idea what the WG has been getting up to and with whom but its very likely she would of sucked and fucked a lot of guys, only a village bike or swinger is likely to have had as many cocks.

It's interesting that your GUM are giving opinions on lifestyle choices e.g don't punt.  Mine have a policy on treating patients and safe sex advice, but not judging what people get up to - it's published on their website too.

2 cognitive biases come to mind when dealing with STD risk,

1. Ambiguity effect   The tendency to avoid options for which missing information makes the probability seem "unknown."

2. Probability distortion,    people generally do not look at the value of probability uniformly between 0 and 1. Lower probability is said to be over-weighted (that is a person is over concerned with the outcome of the probability) while medium to high probability is under-weighted (that is a person is not concerned enough with the outcome of the probability).

I agree with you except on one point, you, me or no one knows whether the majority of WGs do get checked out or not. I personally believe the majority dont and the majority of punters dont either.

I used to ask girls if they were regularly tested and acted accordingly based on their answer. This is a habit that I should probably revive.
