A recent review on here of a parlour in Sheffield referred to a guy taking money on reception.

Would you be comfortable if you walked into a parlour and saw a man working there (I just mean on reception etc)? I think I wouldn't - even though I can't quite put my finger on exactly why! How common is it - don't think I've ever come across it.

Best Chinese massage in Darlington quite often has a man there taking money, showing you to the room etc.

Whilst it's a massage place, not a full sex parlour, I don't mind. I'm sure he knows what goes on

As #2_say's any blokes working there would undoubtedly know what goes on behind closed doors. I would guess that most parlours have a male on the premises for security/safety reasons,  this place is just being up front about it.
I wouldn't worry about it.

Flair in Dewsbury appears to be owned by, and usually has guys on reception.
It doesn't put me off visiting (although I haven't for ages) but I'm not keen on it .... makes it feel a bit pimpy and underworldy .....

All sorts in London Chinese massage shops!

Sometimes there is a man on the front desk.

In Soho shops, you might have to go down or up some stairs with a woman who has lured you in, there might be a woman or a man taking the money on a desk, before you go to a room with the woman who coxed you in.

In one or two shops there are also Ladyboys on offer, so you have to have your wits about you.

In some shops, such as Archer Street, they have CCTV covering the street, and women on the front desk have been known to run out and try and drag regular punters in, if they recognise them.

There are also rip off shops.

There is a shop in Kilburn where the woman on the desk is sometimes drunk.

As far as London goes, you cant afford to be too sensitive!

There used to be a couple in Edinburgh that I visited numerous times always had a bloke on the reception desk ( London street sauna and the one near Hibs football ground who's name escapes me, probobly both closed now) never bothered me, was probably the owner. The way I saw it there was a bloke on site if any trouble kicked off from the punters

Wellspring in Eastleigh (Chinese massage parlour)
often have a guy on reception/answering phone.

I've been to a couple of Chinese places where there was a guy answering the phone or coming to the door. I can't say it really bothered me, they knew what the score was and left me & the girl to get on with things.

Why would I not be comfortable?

In Glasgow a few years back, Chinese massage shop was trying to operate and looking to be legitimate massage shop.   Certificates in the window, and always on the front door, was the owner, and always very polite

The guy was very knowledgeable asking what type of massage you wanted, and from this, you girl is chosen

I ended up with a female in her mid 60's, and she had a very good body.  As for the massage, turns out she was fully trained, in massage techniques, massage was so relaxing I had fallen a sleep

Plenty of cc swipes, and when it came to the HE, again she knew how to make this last, until I exploded one large ejaculation

But the Daily Record done a story on extras, and soon the council closed the premises

20 years ago when I lived darn sarf in that there London, there was a parlour in Ashford in Middlesex with a male "maid". He was a lovely chatty and friendly lad. I had my suspicitons that he was gay, but that didn't make any difference whatsoever, he was just so friendly and unthreatening, he made you feel welcomed and was always up for a chat and a laugh.

Why wouldn’t you be comfortable? You’re not there to interact with the bloke on reception.

First parlour I ever went to had a guy working on reception. Nice guy. Made me a lovely coffee while I waited for my girl to be ready

It's hard to put a finger on it, and maybe comfortable is the wrong word, but yes I understand why people might feel uncomfortable, and I'm not that keen on it.

I think it's because it makes it feels a bit more pimpy when it's a guy, and having a lady on reception feels more right, maybe along the lines of they are part of the overall female interaction process of visiting.
I will often have a bit of sexual banter with the receptionist, even going into the stuff I like to do with the ladies, and sometimes even the receptionist getting involved.

With a guy it's a colder financial transaction, and I certainly wouldn't want those discussions with them, and not really in the frame of mind to talk about football or the stock market ...

Offline I like natural boobs

Doesn't bother me. There are 3 different people that I know of who work the desk at a Sheffield parlour and one of them is a fella. More often than not it's been one of the women on the desk when I've been but a couple of times it's been the fella. I'm fine with that.

That owner of Flair is very interesting if you're into spaceflight. He knows a lot about it and has met several astronauts.

There was the gruff guy who worked several London shops and got quite shirty on the phone if you asked who was working that day.  He didn't seem happy taking my money either.

Last year I called a shop based on a review from here and asked if the SP well reviewed was on that day, the guy who answered the phone also got quite shirty and asked me why I'd want to know etc. Likewise in some on/off legit Thai shops there's occasionally the owner's "hubby" on the desk who tries to shoo away unwanted male custom.

One shop owner told me custom dropped off when she was forced to ask a bloke to cover reception a couple of mornings.

I’ve been greeted by a number men working the front door/reception.  It’s fine, they all know what goes on. Maybe you don’t get as friendly a chit chat on arrival as a female receptionist as it’seasier to build rapport with ladies at such establishments but they are there to do the job. Or maybe they own the place.

Offline Jomoore

Bluebelles in Sheffield used to have a guy running the place, John I think, and it was well run in the early days, although he was off his head quite a lot towards the end and the girls took advantage I think.
Crystal Suite in Sheffield actually had a male dwarf behind the counter.
A1 on Thornton Rd in Bradford had a gay guy.

They're all long closed now and the guys were never a problem, but I know exactly what the OP means, it did strike me as slightly less comfortable than a female maid.

I'll chit chat with anyone.
I think it depends on the person rather than the sex.
I've come across some right miserable receptionists. (Not literally I add, although I've been tempted.)

Well keep your fingers to yourself then.  :D
