First point, since when has a T*******e had a security detail. I punted in a fair few and the only security they may have is coded card keys.
Now the second point from their terms and condition regarding smoking in rooms:
Smoking is not permitted in any T********e hotel other than in designated smoking areas outside the hotel. You must not smoke in any of our hotel rooms or public areas or interfere with our fire detection systems. If you do so this will be regarded as a breach of these booking terms and conditions and we will terminate your booking and if necessary refer the matter to the authorities. We will contact you after your stay to recover any costs incurred due to smoking inside the hotel. The costs we incur include our costs for specialist cleaning, repair or replacement of damage by you to our property, the cost of the room for any period it is unusable and our administration expenses. We may also instruct a third party to recover these costs on our behalf. If you request it, we will send a breakdown of these costs to the address used for the booking.
No mention of an on the spot fine.
Point 3 Paid £200 for a 90 minute punt when her two hour rate is £210. Would a real punter not pay the extra tenner for another 30 minutes.
Smells of a Total BS to me
I could have quoted a lot of other people who have written here, but I think quoting your comment makes for the most concise reply I can give to everyone. (Sorry if this whole thing sounds like a BBC mystery drama now, I have no idea why everyone's overthinking things here!)
Point 1) Travelodge does have coded card keys for their hotel lobbies. The reason for extra security that night was because according to the receptionist's conversation with the guard (which I overheard when I was down at the lobby bar having a beer before the escort arrived) was that the bar they were usually assigned to had closed early for the night, and they got reassigned to the hotel for that night. Guard was doing a big show guarding the cash machine inside the hotel as well, standing in front of it and turning away at least three people who wanted to use it. Not sure how you tell if a guard is legit here in the UK, but as good as I can remember it the guard was wearing one of the usual black jackets with that card strap around his arm, complete with walkie talkie as well.
2) I am not sure about Travelodge's policy on fining people for smoking inside their rooms, but that night when it happened the receptionist (who was a guy) had in no uncertain terms stated that I was to pay the fine on the spot, even holding out the card reader for the hotel to me for added emphasis. I knew the fine was 150 pounds (it was written on the window in the room), but as for paying on the spot versus paying only in future when they bill me, that I am entirely unsure if it was legit or the hotel simply pulled a fast one on me to get the fine immediately.
3) The girl's rate was 210 pounds for 2 full hours. I had her booked for one and a half hours with the agency which worked out to a price of 160 pounds for me. The reason why I went down to withdraw extra cash was because she quoted me an extra 40 pounds in order for me to do RO on her, and I had not expected that as an extra (lots of other escort agencies and their girls offer RO for free). Granted perhaps some of you would have walked once this had happened, but I chose to go through with the deal and pay the extra cash.
4) As for my time in London and having money on hand, I have been saving up all autumn since I arrived for a punt or two in the capital. I'm not that rich, but I'm having sufficient to get by and I don't usually spend my money too frivolously. And university assignments for my term had already been settled before Xmas, for my course in particular, so I don't see why i would not have had the time to travel anywhere in the world basically as long as I had the money to pay the flight ticket.
5) There are only three Taken movies as of the moment. Taken 1 and 2 has been made, Taken 3 is coming out in the New Year. Even when I'm making references to movies in a fit of anger to show my anger at the whole issue back that night, I'm not so stupid to basically rewrite Taken 3 into my saga, thus I said Taken 4. Lots of people do that on the Internet, go search up Youtube videos naming future Taken movies for the most ridiculous of subjects!
6) An 18 hour flight time would put me in the region of South East Asia and possibly even Hong Kong. Go figure where I come from, though that point is strictly irrelevant to my review.
7) In hindsight now when I think back on the whole night, one more weird thing that had not occurred to me back then was that after I went out to withdraw the extra cash, the security guard actually rode the lift with me. It has never happened before but I did not think too much of it (better a guard prowling the corridors than some random dude right?). The one thing that should have set my alarm off was that the guard, while in the lift basically winked at me saying "Make sure she works for it!" Of course, me keeping the straight face and facade that it was nothing more than a normal visit by a friend, I acted puzzled and outraged and asked him "What do you mean?? She doesn't have to work for anything she's a friend!" The guard simply smiled and winked again as I exited the lift, while he went two floors up to his own business supposedly.
Now, if I were to throw in a hypothesis here, which is frankly speaking fairly unsettling, could it be that the security guy had, upon spotting me bringing the girl in from the lobby (even though we acted in a perfectly normal fashion) decided on his own to do a little blackmailing by tailing me up? Like some of you mentioned the hotel smoke sensors might not be working in the toilet because the fog from hot water would have set them off, so why was it that barely five minutes after I re-enter my room he's there knocking on the door demanding to be let in?? Perhaps the fact that the escort I hired gave him the perfect excuse to pull a hard one on me since she had not gotten rid of the cigarette butt in the toilet bowl, but to me I would now consider the idea that perhaps the guard himself was crooked, since if the girl was smoking and the alarm gets triggered why wait five minutes (the time it took for me to go down and out to get my cash) before going up to investigate? Why wait for me to return, take the same lift as me, and then start spouting all that doublespeak (basically "I know she's an escort, make sure you fuck her well for the cash you're paying!")?!?! One more thing, once the guard entered my room he was all like "You girl shut up, you know what you are doing in here inside his room. *sniff sniff* Is that cigarette smoke i smell in here? Do you want to do this the smart way or the stupid way?"
8) Before I forget this point, the girl had told me "if you're going down to withdraw extra money now please bring your valuables with you ya? I don't want any trouble about you losing things because I was in the room". It does not sound to me like she was being fake about it, she did not at any time give off the vibe that she was eyeballing me for riches or anything (she was not particularly wandering around the room when I brought her in checking out everything I had inside).
So there. That's all the explanation I can give.
