External Link/Members OnlyJust last night - as has been mentioned before, this is a new-ish Thai in Guiseley, very close to the station and on a main road.
(Lucie who runs it was in Headingley - the whole establishment now has massage/spa & a bar/coffee shop next door)
Lucie & Suzi both reviewed before - excellent, if slightly pricey.
This time, I decided to book Amy (relatively new and hasn't been reviewed before, to my knowledge) for a change as I'd seen her a couple of times on previous visits with Suzi & Lucie.
I was met at the door by Amy and followed her upstairs (she was in a very short and revealing tunic) good long legs (compared to a Thai as she's not Thai, but mixed race, I believe Thai/Middle Eastern).
Led into one of the new upstairs massage rooms and this is where things started to take a turn for the worse.
The room itself had two beds, and a very large window with only a blind, so it was very bright in there. It seemed quite warm and stuffy too.
Stripped off and laid on the bed as instructed and then Amy came back in (I'd already filled out the proforma in reception, so she knew what I wanted).
She started the usual warm up with me covered by a towel. This lasted for maybe 5 minutes.
Then it was time for the hot oil massage - except it wasn't! The oil and her hands were cold - it was also quite scented.
She worked on my back and shoulders, as I wanted but, by the sound of it, was chewing gum the whole time, together with odd sniffs and coughs - it was very off-putting.
At about 20 minutes, she excused herself to go and get water and blow her nose by the sound of it!
When she returned, the chewing gum seemed to have gone, but the sniffing and coughing continued. I asked if she had a cold, and she said she did, but was getting over it now! Not what you want to hear.
She then moved to my legs, keeping me partially covered with a towel the whole time. There was no hint of anything, at any time, no swipes, no "accidental" touches, nothing.
I need that bit of a hint, otherwise mini-me is unlikely to play along - as happened here, sadly.
She told me to turn with 12 minutes left (I could see the clock when I turned over) and straightaway asked if I wanted extras. Despite myself, I did want to see what Amy had to offer, so I said yes.
Then it got even more odd - she asked if I wanted to pay cash or card, so I said card (I always pay with card here, as it's so straightforward). She then disappeared and came back with a remote card reader!!
I asked if she really wanted me to pay right now, as I was a regular customer and always paid on leaving. She said yes, as she didn't know me (even though Lucie was outside and we'd had a chat earlier!).
I'd pretty much lost any possible urge I had by now - it totally ruined the moment, along with everything else, so I declined.
After a short shoulder massage, I got dressed and left.
I hate to give this place a neutral; it almost became a negative, but the actual massage was OK, in itself.
To sum up:
The room is way too bright, hot and stuffy
Hot Oil massage wasn't - it was cold and too much (as well as being scented!)
Amy chewed gum, sniffed and coughed all through
No hint of any extras until the "question".
Fetching the card machine and asking to pay up front was the final straw.
