We had this bloke a Mr Pryke in our village who we as children and teenagers were forced to go to for a hair raid despite what we might ask foir it was a short back and sides that was around all he knew being ex army!!
Some of our mums asked him if he could do pudding basin cuts which the barstard did!!
Were we glad when we got to around 16 and most had left school by then of to town and we'd copy what the Beatles were doing around 63!..
I remember that too. You just sat in the chair and had your hair cut the only way the barber knew.
I always remembered the look on my mams face when I came back from a trip into The Toon. I had rebelled. I was 14 and came back with a crew cut.
Jeez…..,,. I’ve pretty much got that now. 😂
