Great work Barry, I know nothing about punting in the North East but I'm glad we have another contributor to the wiki. I was feeling a little lonely there.

 :hi:
Cheers Guys.
I'll be honest I see them mentioned all the time on here but I didn't have a clue what a Soho Walk up was until I read your work - after following the links I now even know why HP has unconventional taste in the larger ladies after reading how he began punting in his youth with the mature plump French hookers who then worked in them.

Sure more will join in when they see the benefits!

Great section on Sheffield parlours added by Ali Katt, great job

Didn't realise the police had been cracking down in Manchester and Leeds, which is why this is so useful.

I've tried to add definitions of things like OWO, GFE, PSE and MILF but hopefully someone can improve on them - and there's so many threads on here you could add, so good to have someone else on board.

Interesting read on the Sheffield Parlours.

Barry I was thinking maybe we should have an acronyms (glossary) page to cover OWO, GFE, etc. rather than one page each... what do you think? Anyone? Would it be better to have a glossary or different pages per acronym?

---------

Also I just started a "New to Punting" page with information for newbies who keep asking the same questions over and over again.

http://www.puntingwiki.com/wiki/New_to_Punting

It's a bit rough at the moment so I need help chaps. If you think of a useful FAQ to add to the page do please let me know - better still join the wiki and add it yourself and maybe fix my grammar and spelin

Thanks

Good point - I've never done a Wiki before and I probably went over the top creating a new page for every acronym once I found out how to make links to pages.

A bit like Wikipedia maybe we should follow their style and just have new pages for something that could be a subject page in itself with links to threads - like say Nuru Massage. But the PSE, GFE etc just need a compact way of explaining it - like a link to a glossary page.

Haven't explored the wiki users guide to see if there is another way like pop ups or notes - something so we don't have to explain what an incall is every time we say it but doesn't leave the new users baffled.

We could ask James999 to do it - but think terms like BBW would end up as 'Fat Munter'  :D

Regarding glossary - http://www.puntingwiki.com/wiki/Glossary

A good idea would be to sort alphabetically as header2 and then each term as header3:

Code: [Select]
O
===OWO==
Oral Without

That way any other page on the Wiki can link directly to what OWO means using this:

Code: [Select]
Glossary

Offline akauya

Thanks Admin, we have been using invisible anchors for common terms such as OWO

Code: [Select]

<div id="OWO"></div>

I've just tested it and the following code works just as well from other pages in the wiki:

Code: [Select]

OWO

One thing would be useful (I know I asked this before, so just reminding you) when you get some time can you add a WYSIWYG table editor please? It's bloody awful editing big tables like the Soho walkups page in raw text. Oh and would you be able to add a horizontal Table of Contents template for the Glossary page please?

Thanks

Thanks. The page needs a clean up to be honest, which I'll do at some time. I think Winstons is the only parlour in Leeds and in Manchester pressure from nobheads like Richard Carvath and Naeem ul Hassan "bury-ed" the Wonderlounge.

Ali and Barry, great work you've been doing on the Glossary. I gave up after a while - anyway I've got so much to do on the Soho Wiki (adding a page for each flat and info on the girls) I keep delaying it  :)

Adam I am planning to do some work on the wiki but I have a few questions of whether you allow a few things I envisage:
(i) I will do some work about the London Agencies. Do you allow the creation of profiles of WGs with images? Because in London it is the girl that is important not the agency as the girls are actually indies (well giving a commission) and work for 20+ agencies some even have profiles on Adultwork. So a profile of the girl rather than the agency is a better idea and under each girl’s profile have all the links to the several agencies (and possibly adultwork or personal websites) they work along with their reviews here.

(ii)Do you allow the creation of wiki pages with reviews? Not links to the forum reviews but the review to be directly created on the wiki as a page. My idea is to post reviews first on the wiki and then the same review on the forum section and put a link in the forum review towards the wiki. In that case we can post updates or modify reviews on the wiki without bumping threads on the review section. Do you accept such practice? Another idea is to create profiles of WGs and transfer all reviews and comments of review nature made about them on a nice and neat page. What do you think?

Offline akauya

Can someone please proofread the guide for newbies for me

http://www.puntingwiki.com/wiki/New_to_Punting

Just to make sure I'm not talking shit (yes I know I usually do) and that the wiki page is actually useful.

Any changes, additions, deletions, etc. please let me know.

Thanks... am off to bed.

Good point Jason, not as bad in the North East but girls will still work for a couple of agencies at a time and often change agencies and names more often than they change their knickers.

I've been sticking to one page per girl and linking all the different threads to that one page (eg Keeva of Amour on the agency page but Kiss Me Keeva of AW on the indie page) then listing all their names, reviews and different booking links.

But I'm not sure what to do when they change names again - you don't want to change the page name as it breaks the links. So I suppose we just stick to the name when created? Any bright ideas?

UPDATE:

Adam, no need for a TOC template now. I removed the automatic table of contents and added a normal table with internal links to each section. I think it looks a bit better, it doesn't take too much space for a start.

A profile for the girl and listing all her agency aliases is fine. Though I guess the problem is if she works for 10 agencies under 10 different names it's not always obvious which one is her main name.

For page name changes - it's possible to do a page redirect, that way all links to old page will redirect to new one automatically:

Code: [Select]
#REDIRECT pagename
http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Help:Redirects

Haven't decided regarding images yet, even though some will complain about "copyright", there is something in both US and UK law called "fair use" / "fair dealing" which is why Wikipedia and BBC can still use copyrighted images.

Don't really think that's suitable (using the Wiki for reviews). Am only intending PW to be a directory + punting guides.

I am planning on adding a feature to UKP to allow edit of posts / reviews (with no time restriction), but they'll need to be admin approved before actually changing as I don't want someone to go back and edit out all their posts and make hundreds of threads unreadable.

I've added a few links to pages on UKP and will be adding more over the coming week.

Already 930 unique visitors Friday (according to Google Analytics) and 547 for Thursday. It took us over a year to reach 900 visitors for UKP.

It's early days, but I'm sure by the end of 2015 PuntingWiki will be a fantastic resource. Both new and experienced punters.

Chaps Ali's page (Average Regional prices) needs some info for the Midlands, North west, Wales, Northern Ireland and Scotland. I did a tiny bit on London and Jason kindly did most of the work there.

We are also missing stuff on Scotland in general, Northern Ireland, Wales and International stuff.

I think the guide for Newbie punters is finished (with Ali's help) - I can't think of anything else to write there.

Jason has done an excellent guide on review writing (http://www.puntingwiki.com/wiki/Guide_to_UKP_review_writing)

There definitely needs to be a section of all the acronyms used on UKP. Can't think of any right now but sometimes I read threads and think WTF (what the fuck) when I see some of the acronyms.

I think this from A-levels to YMMV is a pretty good start - Ali Katt and others have been regularly adding away. My personal favourite was Norris - never heard that one before.

Have a look, and if you can think of others not listed feel free to suggest them.

I think most questions on boards which could be answered by the Wiki tend to be about services like OWO, DFK, CIM, etc especially for agencies which don't/can't advertise them.

Guys can easily filter girls according to age, size, hair colour and the rest to find their 'type' but then say something like OWO or French kissing is a dealbreaker for them. The info is often in reviews but they don't search through them.

Don't want to turn this into a techie thread but any views from the Wiki experts about the best way to achieve this - using categories or hidden categories for each service or is there a better way?

Great if there is some advice or guidance at this stage as it's easier to add things like category tags now before there are hundreds of girls on. And I think with this sort of facility you could easily set up AW style searches of multiple categories to find girls in an area who offer your services.
