So I’m off into the west end for a bit of (hopefully) punting fun.

The usual public transport use. No problems.
I’ve just had a drink in Kingston costing £3-95.
Now I’m in Victoria that sane drink costs £11-40 😂

I can hear my old man saying “HOW MUCH” 😱

It’s not something that worries me but I can’t help smile at the difference sometimes.

I know the analogy doesn’t work. But can you imagine if punting costs were similar 🤷🏼

Anyway. I doubt I will be having a post punt drink anywhere nearby in an hour or two. Straight on that train and a few in Wimbledon methinks.
£11-40 for fucks sake 😀😀😀

My PPP is my favourite moment and gives me something to look forward to afterwards

It also stops that post punt depression that some have mentioned.

The way I figure is I usually have 150 in my pocket, if I punt a lady for 130 then after the pint I have 8.50 left.

Quids in man !!!

When I was in my mid-twenties, I was going out with a really nice girl.  One Saturday afternoon we were going in and out of the shops on Oxford Street, and madly I decided I wanted to impress her, So I suggested we go to the nearby Portman Square, and drop into what was then the Churchill Hotel, for a drink. I wanted her to think I was sophisticated!

The Churchill was a five star hotel. The bar bill for just two drinks was shock. We had another drink each, which brought the bill to exactly half my weekly wage!

Name and shame, matey… guessing you were in The Tun (‘spoons) in Kingston.  What was the place in Victoria? I usually drink in The Albert when up that way.

I think he may have been in the pub that is in Victoria station. You can go upstairs and look down at everyone.

So about £8 2s 1d  ;)

I’ve been to both pubs, 3tuns and the one in the sky at Victoria.

My fav is the flying horse at Oxford and TCR. Choice of ales is terrific. Either soon as I arrive or shortly before I leave.

Some good totty around Goodge St. Think the pints are around £6 so midway between northern and southern prices

I remember our family home had a meter that took shillings. The LEB man wearing a uniform and peak cap would arrive once a month to empty it and count it out on the kitchen table.

These days I've got a £150 a month direct debit!

Yep…… Wethies in Kingston.
Duke of York in Victoria.

That one is a Whetherspoons, so shouldn’t be too expensive.

There is another Wetherspoons just a few minutes walk from Victoria Station. It is called The Willow Walk and is at 25 Wilton Road. It is a bit cheaper than the one in the station and has more of a pub feel to it. It is quite small for a Wettherspoons though.

I quite like the Victoria Taps, not too expensive with a real London feel about it.

I’ve arranged a few punts from there  :)

Don't know about you but I'd find it incredibly difficult to do any work if a woman like that worked in my office.  [Where’s that hard‑on emoji when you need it]

We regularly used to go into the Grosvenor House hotel on Park Lane for a couple of drinks. I dont recall it being particularly pricey.  :drinks:
