I like these!
I've been listening to The Strokes a lot over Christmas. I watched their Reading 2011 set (which I was at) and it was awesome. The singer barely moves, he is glued to his microphone stand the whole set, he barely talks to the crowd, people may hate that but I think it shows he just lets the music do the talking. You can hear the crowd singing away to each song and they are loving it. As a music fan I respect that sort of performance over Coldplay who do all the fancy lighting and jumbotron stuff (I like Coldplay a little bit too, but just as an example). Is This It is a brilliant album and I have very fond memories from hearing it the first time. I also like their later stuff but Is This It is the tops for me.
Used to love Arctic Monkeys. I never clicked with their more recent stuff, tried listening once and it didn't click. Sounds like the sort of music you need to hear a few times to get into but I just didn't have the patience. I loved their first 2 albums and AM is a sensational album.
The Smiths is also a fine addition. Just before my time so I probably have more of a connection to the other two bands mentioned.
Agree with you completely on the strokes, they just get up and belt it out, loved them.
I’m not a massive fan of Coldplay music but saw them live a couple of years ago, it was probably the best concert I’d been to in terms of the actual event, something I’ll never forget.
Agree on the more recent arctic monkeys too, you need to give it a chance! I was stuck in a camper van travelling oz with someone playing it incessantly, kinda stuck and now I prefer the more recent stuff if I’m being honest.
I was a young uncouth teen when the smiths were around and didn’t appreciate them at all until I was older.
