Romanian and Italian are members of the same language family, which includes Romanian, Italian, French, Spanish, and Portuguese. These languages all descend from Latin and share a common ancestry.
As such it's not to difficult to learn one of the others, or at the least, pass yourself off as one of the others to an unwitting punter, if you're Romanian and know your fellow countrywomen have a tarnished reputatoin service-wise.
Italian and Portuguese sound closest to the uninitiated, so I'm always a little more wary around any WGs claiming to be either.
