Author Topic: Economic conditions affecting punting habits?  (Read 2431 times)

According to the newspapers the current economic conditions are curtailing spending in general. Looking at the number of reviews on this site, and high prices asked by many SPs this would not seem to be the case with punting. Is it a case of punting being the last thing abandoned in a recession do the members think?

Hasn't made the slightest difference to me, I punt whenever I feel like

Only possible difference it has possibly had is that its made it easier to book the more popular girls

Only thing that's reduced my punting is the lack of appealing girls.
I've more ready cash than I've ever had but really struggle to find anyone worth splashing it on  :(. I blame onlyfans.

I switched to punting mainly Thai girls around 3 years ago and many were hard to get hold of to begin with however i'd say the last 2 years has been much easier and most girls say they aren't that busy
It's the same with a lot of the Brits too including parlour girls nobody seems flat out busy

Thinking back to around 2007/8 and the credit crunch talking to girls they said guys were punting a bit less so perhaps instead of once a week or 4 times a month they would punt every fortnight or 3 times a month, guys who normally booked an hour would in some cases only do 30 minutes and the 30 minute guys would in some cases do a 15 minute P&D

Personally i'm punting more regularly than I ever have in the last 2 years due to a change in jobs giving me more spare time and it's good for me that the girls are easier to get hold of

Anyway to answer the OP's questions i'd say that yes it stands to reason that if money is tight people will cut discretionary spending so punting should logically reduce a bit however you do still need to buy your essentials  ;)  :D

I was wandering around MK the other day (OK, you got me, I was killing time before a punt  ;)) And it struck me how the only industry left in town was sex work. Ten years ago the place was bustling. The car parks were full and so were the office buildings. Today most of the offices have been converted to flats or are boarded up and most of the people I passed looked like SPs or Sergeys. It seems like we're still finding money to punt from somewhere!

:hi:  That was just what I thought too when I went to price a refit up there in the summer it just needs some of that Tumble weed from Western Cowboy towns and you`d get the real feel of a desserted ghost town ....Hoping to pop in and see Raquel Van Zant when she and her parnter do the gang bangs in one of the towers soon ... :hi:

I'm pretty sure punting isn't included in the government figures, but UK consumer spending has been going up in recent months and wage growth remains above inflation. It's not exactly booming, but the economy is doing OK.

Oh boy, another whoreonomics thread...

I think people's spending on their vices is pretty consistent even in poor economies. Throughout the recent recessions, fast food, alcohol, tobacco and gambling companies have all done pretty well for themselves. When life feels a bit crap people don't give up their vices, if anything they lean into them.

I would guess there's a bit of "lipstick effect" going on as well, i.e. in a recession people tend to cheer themselves up with smaller discretionary spends.

When I'm feeling gloomy, I go and get a bit of lipstick around my dipstick.  ;)

I really don't understand the appeal of OF. Paying a subscription to see an individual girl when there is so much free content on the web covering all manner of topics. Also if you are going to fork out money why not book an escort.

What am i not seeing here. If someone can explain the attraction of OF over free porn and punting I would be really grateful

I use OF for specific women who don't escort at any price (I've asked) - I really enjoy it, and they provide custom content that can't be found anywhere else. I also see escorts every week pretty much, sometimes more often. OF is a different experience, but just as enjoyable for me.

I also don't consume free porn as I consider it to be theft in many cases, just like pirating music which has ruined that industry for many artists. Each to their own obviously.

I have reduced my punts since Covid but it’s not due to economic considerations.

Reasons are :

1) Reluctance to hand over £200 for what used to cost me £120. I often spend ten minutes staring at the cash in my hand before making the phone call.

2) Poorer performance from me, not so much age, more sort of unable to accept what my body now finds more challenging to do.

3) The big one is becoming more risk averse, ten years ago I would have just gone with the first Brazilian in an apartment in Birmingham that answers my call. Now a million things go through my head, is she managed by Pablo, is she a TS, will she give good service, will she be the girl on the profile, is it a mini-brothel as defined by two or more girls, am I too old for her.

Yada, yada, yada.

While I appreciate it’s an expensive hobby for some, I am still able to accommodate…….for now. :hi:

Maybe it's age or rose-tinted memories, but I agree with this. Every month the SPs seem to add another £10 to the hourly rate. I often thought it was the new Brazilian mafia that started hiking prices. Some of my old favourite SPs are still at reasonable rates (but unfortunately for me they tour so I rarely see them).

There is certainly a lot more crap out there, and far more catfishing, B&S and airbrushing that ends in disappointment.

I'm enjoying massages more now, even if they aren't with a HE. So long as I'm naked it gives me a thrill  ;)

It stands to reason that economic conditions will alter punting habits be that due to your own finances or the independent sp availability as they will also impacted and less available
A comment above mentions wage growth is above inflation but i sort of wonder where the reports of these figures are derived.
Im in tech and over 50, if i take my wage as of 2019 and compare with what it is today its not gone up by inflation over that period, I'm just keeping my head down hoping the next set of layoffs don't impact me
My outgoings are certainly higher and the difference between 2019 and now out ways my wage growth. I'm still in a fortunate position where i have spare cash at the end of each month but its nothing like it was I'm sure i'm not alone . Have I cut back yes but across the board as all social activities are higher

Same here. But if you mention this you get accused of complaining about price.

Last 2-3 years the prices have really gone up. Not all bad, as its now easier (comparitively) to get the hot escorts.

But it does mean I am very reluctant to try new girls, and stick to the few I know are good.

Are you saying then that the 'hot girls' get less business  :unknown:
