With the exception of one or two places where it was allowed curb crawling has always been one of the few things associated with prostitution that is illegal in England.   :unknown:

Every now and again police forces will clamp down on it.

The article says the police have been onto this for 10 years. They also say they've taken action against 145 men in the last 18months.
It also says others could learn from the success of this scheme, but not what that success is.

soliciting and curb crawling in resdidential areas is imo rightfully generally not tolerated. i haven't read the article but if it was in a residentail area, i hope those guys got prosecuted and fined. There really is no need for it in todays tech world!

not like i see street workers but from reports and documentaries men can pay for sex with a street worker for as little as £10 to £20.  :unknown:

I think the thrill of doing something illegal and being able to see the "goods" before buying are motivating factors too  :unknown:

possibly.  :unknown:

It may even be a motivating factor that it would be sort of like a "soho walk up". or not knowing which wg you would get until you go for it.  :unknown:

Yet the unmotivated factor for me, is that you would have to be out late at night to see them. I am someone who is not a night owl.

"It's nine o'clock on a bitterly cold Monday evening and as temperatures dip below freezing, we are heading out with the Op Boss and Night Light police teams."

to be fair, nine o'clock is early when it comes to street workers.

I will be surprised if there are sex workers working on  the street at  9pm in the London region.  :unknown:

This thread's about what happened in Bristol,120 miles from London. Maybe they go to bed earlier there.  :unknown:

BTW most of those caught in the clampdown in Middlesbrough were in the evening.

It may depend on which part of London - guys that can afford to own property in the Centre will be very wealthy and can afford to have SPs do an outcall. In the 'burbs probably not so much  :unknown:

in this case, it seems like my assumptions are wrong.  :unknown:

Bit of wider context on this for those outside of Bristol.

When the former mayor Marvin Rees came to power in 2016 he gave it the biggun on stopping street based sex-work & closing the parlours & strip clubs. Fast-forward 9 years we've got what, 3 or 4 parlours left, 2 strip clubs & an occasional sex club. But that's more to do with the pandemic than anything Rees did or didn't do.

Here's a blog from 2016 about what/why/how he was proposing things.

As a consequence, the most popular parlour has 25 girls on its books. They come & go as with most parlours, but the prices there would be seen as obscene in say parlours like the North West. Especially as the service is very limited for the money (Extras are extortionate & you'd get far more value for money in say Manchester or pretty much any parlour north of Birmingham).

As an example, Bath Road run a 'tight ship'. If a girl is 'troubled' shall we say, they've few other opportunities, even travelling to say, Cardiff is a challenge.

But this is one of the few places girls can work, stay there after the shift & be safe. Even Bath Road doesn't open 7 days a week anymore, again I'd imagine folks from other parts of the UK would be reading this with astonishment. 25 girls & they can't open 7 days? No, it seems they won't open 7 days as Monday & Tuesday are so slow.

Girls on the street often have few options as it is. If they're living in a HMO (as many do in London, so I'm told) they won't be able to bring punters home (Many HMO's don't allow visitors, certainly not after 9PM) & the woodland region around Gloucester Road have for years been notoriously used for quickies as you can see in the clip.

In 2014 & new to this site, when I asked on the south west regional discussion about potentially using SW's on Gloucester Road & Fishponds Road I was met, unsurprisingly, with howls of derision & dogs abuse (Sadly I believe Roth died or retired, I don't care TBQHWY)

https://www.ukpunting.com/index.php?topic=41747.msg556768#msg556768

I unsurprisingly learned a great deal of this from using this site & from being called a PeaBrain & a cunt.
(Both valid opinions honestly)
