It looks like they could fit another runway to the south without causing that much disruption a small business park and a couple of houses would be affected.

Thats the good thing there, it is offset to the side of the town..

They'll have to do a lot of work on the surrounding roads as well - the approach road often gets completely true locked at current passenger levels. Luton Council have to be very careful with any permissions, as they have a serious conflict of interest as the owners of the airport, albeit it's leased to someone else to actually operate it.

Especially if the proposed Law limiting people's ability to object goes through.

Will they build a new garage?

Don't know how it will affect Luton, but diluting the demand at Heathrow and Gatwick seems like a good thing

Online RandomGuy99

Perhaps they could do a really big expansion and knock down the whole of Luton?

I believe Gatwick put forward plans to basically build a mirror image of itself a few years ago, they already own the land, so no need to buy more.

I dont see any purpose in expanding the runways in UK airports.  I see what already is happening, for instance, most times I fly from Gatwick, and my flight never takes of in time, due to too many planes on runway, and in air

More runways means, more airplanes which carry more passengers, which means more airplanes in the air, possibilities of near misses, or worse lives lost

NO

I just don't know how you could come to that conclusion. stop for a minute, and think about it

As Max says stop and think about what you have posted, it makes no sense

Using your logic you would suggest changing a really busy 3 lane motorway section to a 2 lane dual carriageway rather than a 4 lane motorway  :unknown:

Well it’s finally agreed a new Universal theme park will be built near Bedford so will need more capacity at Luton.

It's on the site of an old brickwworks, a brownfield site, with much later planning regs.

Alton Towers is very .much around - I believe it's part of the same group, Merlin, that also owns Chessinton World of Adventure, Madame Tussauds and  Warwick Castle.

This is a snapshot of air traffic that is in the air at 4:15 today from the flight radar website. When you look at it it looks manic but it is still the safest way to travel,  Your more likely to be killed in a car crash than an aircrash .
