Author Topic: eurovision uk song for 2025. WHAT THE HELL JUST HAPPENED?  (Read 5031 times)

Like most things now, Eurovision is all about money. It now costs so much to put on that smaller Countries can't afford it. Most of the funding is provided by Germany, France and the UK, in return for which our entry automatically goes into the Final. The luvvies at the Beeb like this arrangement as it gives them a free foreign junket every year.
I think it's because those 5 countries broadcasters help transmit the competition

I like the Latvia entry, and think it will do well, maybe even go and win this year contest

We used to love watching it in the ol' daze.
Now we record it and fast forward about 90%.

Nul points absolutely deserved.

The three girls who sang for us are actually really good singers. They are properly the best singers we ever had, shame about the song. If the song was leagues better, then it would have been in the top 10 in the voting I would imagine.

although I don't think most people who watch it cares who comes last or wins, It is just more about the show.

We could send Adele or Ed Sheeran and still wouldn't be anywhere near winning it.

We wouldn't want to inflict such misery on them if we picked Ed Sheeran.  :sarcastic:

I didn't watch it but as you say we got Nul points from the public vote. Well what a surprise   :sarcastic:
Don't know why we waste our time and money on this competition. Time we pulled the plug on it.

We should have stayed in the EU and left Eurovision.

We all know it’s got fuck all to do with music nowadays. It’s just a spectacle…… circus even.

I get it that some of the performers may be well known in Europe. But the rest of the world …….. nah.

If it were up to me. Next year I’d choose some karaoke singer. Dress them as a chicken and get them to hum a single note for 3 minutes.
Nil points obviously. But at least we would be letting everyone know how ridiculous this shite is.

Actually I’m being wrong here. It’s not shite. Because so many people love it and look forward to it…… and vote of course.
No accounting for taste.

But a show to pick the best song in Europe for that year……….. 😂😂😂😂😂

A fine writer of extremely bland music. If he was performing in my back garden I'd draw the curtains and unplug his amp. I'd rather hammer nails into my ears than listen to Ed Sheeran.

I agree, his music is beige, incredibly dull and bland.

We can’t can Eurovision, what would the gay mafia at the BBC do then?

I'm no great fan of Sheeran; he was just an example. The point I was making is that we could send any famous, internationally recognised British singer to Eurovision and they wouldn't win.

Disagree.

Theres no political conspiracy here, our performance in Eurovision is directly correlated to the quality of our entry. This year's was shite, we deserved nothing and got nothing.  Strong singers but an absolutely awful song.  Did anyone genuinely expect us to have a strong showing with that?

In 2022 our entry, Sam Ryder - Spaceman, was decent and we won the judges vote. Only a public sympathy vote, understandably, for Ukraine stopped him winning overall.

Olly Alexander and Mae Muller in 23 and 24 respectively were both dreadful and bombed.  The last two and half decades of British entries to this competition are just one long list of mediocrities interspersed with 2 or 3 decent entries.

We should have sent Hawkwind to the show, years ago

Saw them last month, going again next weekend. Only Dave Brock remaining from the original band.

Saw them lots of times at various free festivals in the 70s n 80s. Best show ever was on the Space Ritual tour at the Edmonton Sundown.

It's pretty cheap telly. Cheaper way of filling the schedules elsewhere too now there are the semi finals. There'll also be a few hours of documentaries each year too, and I'm guessing there'll have been spots on the One show and other daytime magazine shows.

I also here this evening it got a much bigger audience than the FA Cup final. Wonder what that says...

Are we talking about viewing figures for the FA cup final for the BBC or both BBC and ITV combined .  :unknown:

As I said earlier, the luvvies at the BBC (gay or otherwise) look on it as a free foreign junket every year.

No, just BBC I believe.
