Author Topic: Line - Bangkok help!  (Read 1975 times)

Hi all,

Sorry, I'm posting quite a bit recently in prep for my visit to Bangkok. Please tell me if I'm posting too much!

So on to my problem. I know that Line is used more in Thailand so I've downloaded that. But I have errors everywhere. I can't add my phone number to it (says my region doesn't allow it - I'm from the UK) and then trying to add someone using their QR code through up an error also!

Anyone having similar problems? Or any ideas of how to fix it?

When I was there in January it was rubbish. I think I could add with qr code but most usernames I couldn't.
I don't think you can use it with a UK number. I've always got Thai sim card

I was able to add numbers with a QR code but couldnt search for people (on my UK LINE account). Ended up opening a second one with a Thai number.

Ah right... I won't bother then. Not gonna get a Thai number just to use it. Thanks for the info!

Hi All

I personally find line ap brilliant, I don’t think I had to give my uk punting phone number when I first started using it( can’t honestly remember 🤷‍♂️)
But it’s a little tricky finding some contacts with it. But for the most part it’s better for the TF girls to give out their line ids and easier for them to communicate. It’s also great if your on google maps and see something I.e massage spa and want to check what they offer via the line ap.
I also found it was a great way to connect with a girl (freelance in a bar) she gives her line Id via qr and she doesn’t have to give her mob number.
Yes get a Thai sim more expensive at the airport but I redeem the cost with getting grab taxis rather than the expensive taxis..

You are trying to solve a problem that you don't have.  You can't use a UK phone number.  And you don't need one!

Just sign up with Gmail or Apple.  It is rubbish in the UK, but it will be useful to text girls when in Thailand.  The QR code thing works well there.  Touch your picture, press the tiny QR code at the top, and you have a code bar girls can scan.

Or do the other way round.  Press the person icon with the plus, press the QR code icon (under the words 'add friends') and you will get a camera to scan her QR code.  You can also add TF girls with their Line ID.

Line is Asia’s WhatsApp.
I’ve got a dual sim phone with a AIS which I top 10tbt every couple of months when I’m back in UK, it’s a piece of piss, can use line in uk no problem, and WhatsApp when I need to keep in touch back home.

Sorry, asking questions on an old thread. Do I need to have a physical Thai sim or will they add a eSIM to my iPhone 15? I have one slot on my usual phone. I know there is a probably a really easy explanation but not sure what it is. No punting phone to take to Thailand.
