I've got no objection to it being a win win for AW - it's costing someone in time at AW to make sure we're not aggrieved ex boyfriends or jealous escs trying to get rid of the competition. I don't work for free and don't expect anyone else to. If it wasn't for AW I probably wouldn't have ever got into punting and I'm pretty sure there's plenty of escs that have made a comfortable living out it.
That said, there are still way too many fakers, but the question on my mind is who are they? I've known punters on some forums brag in the past about how many fake profiles they've made a killing from. I reckon it's probably half punters and half escs that are making £s from the fake profiles.
Not quite sure what you mean working for free? I'd assume someone is paid to do a job part of which will entail checking any reports amongst many other things. Sure it can't be easy at times for the reasons you highlight but a lot of this stuff is blatantly obvious IMHO and no doubt Adultwork
employees have access to much more information than the average
Service Seeker (multiple Login details, Aliases, IP trails, weblogs, user and email activity etc). If in doubt the profile owner can fairly easily prove they are genuine via electronic means and as is clear from these threads the profiles aren't deleted but made 'inactive'. What is a sore point with many Punters is, as far as I'm aware, that credits are not returned to the those who have paid to view content when a profile is deemed fake and credits lost to the person(s) controlling these profiles.
As for who they are* I'd say all sorts from lone individuals both male and female to large well organised rings including those operating outside the UK. There are so many of them it's really impossible to even hazard a guess on how it would all break down. I'd be interested to know where you've seen Punters bragging about running these scam profiles though as I must say I've not come across anything similar as far as I can recall other than a Prossie posting here that some of her clients did so.
Having said all that I do agree that Adultwork is a great resource for us Punters if used properly whilst not accepting everything at face value. I expect many of us would now be somewhat lost without it.

The fact we have a forum dedicated to Adultwork says it all really.
