I think all shops are on alert for police and immigration officers at moment , lots in Darlington , and a few in Harrogate and other parts of the uk have been hit recently , I read online the government is cracking down on down on none legit businesses, so some attitude could be down to nervousness.
Interesting thoughts, thanks. FWIW, my take on it:
First, what the authorities may consider "non-legit" is probably different to our use of the term. I'm fairly sure that the huge number of money-laundering car washes, "Turkish" barbers and vape shops (doubling as illegal tobacco and illegal drugs suppliers) not to mention the hordes of kamikaze delivery riders, will feature higher on the list of priorities of police, immigration, HMRC and local licensing authorities than a few shops with a couple of harmless women making local guys happy. If not, they should.
If the focus is on immigration status, I'm not sure how much it would change the above list of priorities/ risk assessments whether said ladies deliver a BJ along with the massage or not. The issue of trafficking is separate and more serious, but as I think we're all in agreement about, any suspicion of this would be reported.
Another couple of thoughts: There seems to be a huge difference in the attitude of Chinese v Thai places; the Thais seem fairly free and happy and often openly offer extras in their adverts, whereas the Chinese seem guarded and secretive about it, and as per Bentley, perhaps even frightened of something/ someone? Also it always seems to me that the Thais are more free and independent, enjoying city life around them, pubs etc, contrasting with the Chinese who seem to be isolated and holed up in their shops endlessly, and not particularly happy.
Not related to the above is the issue of places being discreet or not. I've never understood the logic of setting up high street places, as blatant and expensive as they must be with business rates etc. and completely indiscreet, especially the Chinese who seem to want to hide what they're up to. You'd think a quiet suburban house with free parking around would be cheaper and better for everyone. (Having said that, Nature, Herb, Wellbeing in Woodhouse, Leeds, fits that description perfectly and still manages to be crap).
It remains a mystery
