Its a shame that you feel like that. But if I'd been concerned having been tumbled I would too would have appealed for advice here as you did. It could happen to any of us and I know some on here who have been found out. The out come all varies. Deny Deny Deny is probably best way forward. My wife then left, getting possession of the flat, the cars, the country house and the French houses. I have lived happily ever since. Unless you had the lawyer who was working for your ex then this is BS. No way would she have gotten all of it. Even if kids were involved the assets would have been split to provide a place for both parties to reside and a reasonable split of assets. Smells like BS to me.

Colston is very much among the very senior members of the forum and had quite a colourful and varied life. I can well believe that there has been changes in the way the assets are split since this occurred.

I've mentioned it before but if anyone is in a situation which is unhappy there is a lot of research that can be done on here as there is often a lot of bullshit talked about how much settlements may cost a guy. (I dare say if you researched similar threads on not allowed you'd get a load of posts on how the bloke hasn't lost anything like what he should have)

There are divorce calculators on line - there used to be a gov.uk one - that will detail exactly what you can expect to lose - or receive - in terms of assets gained during the marriage and what is likely to be decided in terms of mintenance for any kids.

But do be careful - those pesky cookies can mean that any popup or sidebar ads may start advertising divorce lawyers - and that can be costly in other ways!!

That oughtn't to be so unusual that you couldn't conceive of it. Women are generally more risk-averse and are apt to settle for tangible assets, especially if the ex-partner has significant expertise in and influence over the risk assets.

You have no idea what you're talking about. I have been divorced three times. This was the only one when I got cleaned out - and the reason was simple: her lawyer was brilliant; mine was crap - and I was 100% in the wrong. Kids irrelevant - I was over 70 at the time.

I did in fact have a lady in waiting, as it were and seem to have acquired at some point a flat off the King's Road in Chelsea. Because of the insane price of property there you can buy a nice 4 story house in another pleasant city if you sell such a flat. I also had and still have a business which still toddles along.
