If she's seen in, or getting into your car and she's a "known" prostitute to the police then you're guilty. As far as I can remember it doesn't even need money to have been exchanged. If she gets in your car, you're soliciting

I think that this is a very grey area one of which a good solicitor should be able to either get the charges dropped before any proceedings or at the least potentially get you a not guilty verdict

The sexual offences act states.......

In relation to Kerb-crawling.

1 A man commits an offence if he solicits a woman (or different women) for the purpose of prostitution—

a, from a motor vehicle while it is in a street or public place; or

b, in a street or public place while in the immediate vicinity of a motor vehicle that he has just got out of or off,

persistently or, subject to section 5(6) below, in such manner or in such circumstances as to be likely to cause annoyance to the woman (or any of the women) solicited, or nuisance to other persons in the neighbourhood.

So taking into account the fact that the exchange of sexual services in legal in England and that all you are doing at that point is stopping in a legally allowed place to pick up your pre-arranged appointment and are not causing annoyance to said appointment or any other person in that area then i cannot see how this can be an offence

All that said, do you really want or need it to get to solicitor levels and lets be honest, Plod can act on suspicion, free of legal retribution, which then depending on how far they are willing to take it, even without it going far enough to force yo to get a brief, the initial investigation may lead to causing you considerable embarrassments at the very least

I haven't done any car meets but wouldn't rule it out and i base that on the following.  Not saying folk should take my word for it as, as ive already said, i can't speak from experience.  I just don't think the police are hugely bothered about paid sex so long as the girls haven't been trafficed, coerced, or controled against their will.

My two penneth is that the definition of soliciting is loosely based on openly selling a service.  A very good definition of curb crawling has already been given, the crux of which seems (to me at least) to focus on the driver propositioning a woman or worse still, harassing her. 

If you're arranging the meet by phone then picking the girl up, not a single word needs to be passed between the two parties until you've driven away.  I say it would take a pretty keen eyed copper to spot what just happened unless they knew the pick up was going to happen. 

I guess the scope to fuck up is if you mistake another girl for the one you're picking up but so long as you get a good description or better still, know the girl you're picking up, i would be comfortable with going ahead with it.

I believe police stings or patrols that aim to pick up curb crawlers are generally based on complaints from local residents sick of seeing working girls ply their trade or complaints from females who punters have wrongly propositioned.

Be interesting to hear from any punters on here who've actually had their collar felt for picking a lass up for a car meet?  Just doesn't seem to something you read about any more.

I have dabbled in car meets, including picking up girls in the Holbeck RLD for a quick BJ. However, since they removed the managed zone in Holbeck, I've packed it in. I did drive around a few times after the end of the zone, but now I've realised it isn't worth the hassle.

I think the police would probably let you off with a stern word (the first time), but would prefer to avoid that situation. Regarding Holbeck specifically, the local residents are extremely vigilant and plaster photos of punters and their cars all over social media - for me this would be even worse than a quick telling off from PC Plod.

Thanks adamza.  Good feedback.  I suppose in known red light areas, punters would stand out more readily.  I personally wouldnt do the street browsing that would constitute curb crawling.  Was just interested in the cross over to picking up pre arranged car meets.
