Why is the function even there if we can't use it among active members to arrange a gangbang? That's not something that can be done publicly in a thread so it removes one major way the site could be useful. I do understand the need to keep useful information public and avoid people sharing information that could be helpful to others in private in PMs. But that doesn't relate to this situation at all.

It doesn't help that the warning messages when you try to PM someone, and the explanations of the admins about the rules directly contradict each other either. One minute it's you can't message more than 1 person in 12 hours, the next it's you can't message at all even if it's the same 1 person, even if they messaged you first and are totally unrestricted. And asking an admin to clarify which one is right and which is wrong is met with disdain as if you're trying to get around the rules, as opposed to simply get an understandable explanation that doesn't contradict itself

I think you may have misunderstood me as your reply has no relation to what I actually said, I of course have no issues with PMs being restricted and agree people should be encouraged to do so publicly so the forum can be a useful resource. This is in fact a given I would say.

I was mostly speaking about the warning message you receive when trying to PM someone, which says "you can only message 1 person within 12 hours". The wording of this means that if you message 1 person, you can't message anyone else for 12 hours, but you can still message that 1 person. Since they're still within that one person limit.

This is straight up incorrect though, you will still be blocked even if messaging the same person within 12 hours. The wording of the message and what actually happens contradict each other.

What it really should say is "you can only send 1 message within 12 hours" since this is what actually happens in practice, regardless of who you're messaging. The part about 1 person/1 member is misleading and not correct.

I did message an admin about this once and they replied "wait 12 hours then" which proves my point as that is not what the message is implying at all.
