Saw features on this 16 year old lad over the last week or so, looks like he's taking the darts world by storm and has been playing since he was about 18 months old.
Amazing to think he's just knocked out 5 time champion Raymond van Barneveld and was born 21 days after he last won the title in 2007

This lad could dominate the "Sport" for decades and I can see him being the equivalent of Ronnie O'Sullivan in snooker with him being the one they all want to beat
Perhaps he has an unfair advantage as despite being the tender age of only 16 he already has the perfect physique for darts
He's not old enough to legally drink but does like to celebrate with a Kebab  :D  :drinks:

Or Perhaps he will turn out to be another Keith Deller who exploded onto the World championship at a young age as an unknown but only went on to win one World Championship  :unknown: ( that was a brilliant final though beating the crafty Cockney Eric Bristow )
It would be good to see him go all the way to the final.

Fair play to him but even taking account of him being from Warrington he's had a hard paper round, looks about 35.

I watched the first quarter final today, a thriller. Rob Cross was 4 sets to nil down and looked dead and buried  but came back to win the next 5 sets to win 5-4 against  Chris Dobey.

What are they dragging the world’s out ?
I’m sure the Final use to be played on New Year’s Day

Maybe they have more participants now meaning more knock out rounds. With Sky sports coverage  it's big business.  I think I heard them say Luke Littler has already made a hundred grand getting to the quarter finals, not bad earnings for a 16 year old, how many newspapers would he have to deliver to make that  :D

I think he's actually 30 years old,  he must be the oldest looking 16 year old on the planet . Probably put the wrong date on his birth certificate.

Think he’s managed to spend 20 years in boozer already…he must have doubled his pub time by doing overnight lock-ins 7 days a week from the age of 10.

Lukes  birth certificate is online  confirming  that he's 17 in a few weeks time.

Jeez knows what the Health and Safety brigade make of his life style.

Some snippets from a potted biography I read:
1/ Throwing darts from the age of 18 months.
2/ From age of 5 using a full sized board and clambering up a couple of stools to take his darts out of board himself.
3/ Playing darts in pubs from 8 onwards.
4/ Deciding at 13 his “academic career” was over so when at home during Covid just practicing darts 16 or 17 hours a day.

Basically lifestyle has been darts, eat, darts, sleep. Then same again next day.

If he is smart he'll realise it is that narrow focus that has brought him his success.

Didn't Alex Higgins once say Steve Davis was "lucky" after loosing to him in a snooker tournament and Steve Davis replied the more I practice the luckier I get

I remember one snooker player, can't think who, when interviewed said as he wasn't competing much he was 'only' practising 4 or 5 hours a day.

Listening to this on the radio but i'm thinking Darts perhaps isn't best suited to radio, thanks to the cunts that are Sky for fucking up yet another sport for me that used to be on free to air TV

Humphries took the lead but currently Littler is 3-2 sets up, first to win 7 wins it so closer than Littlers other matches

Littler started off slow but he's back in full swing now 4-3 up, the lad doesn't seem to suffer from any nerves. More 180 's thrown in this tournament than any other.
Game on !
It should be on free to air tv but the BBC are only interested in snooker and tennis.
Now 4-4 this is going to go down to the wire.

Humphries 6-4 up after being 4-2 down, he's taken the last 4 sets which shows why he's the worlds No.1

Littler missed a chance to make it 5-2 so it went 4-3 which is a big difference and may have affected him a bit  :unknown:

Littler pockets £250,000 not bad for a few weeks work for a 16 year old. Everyone probably cheering for Littler  but he's certainly captured the publics imagination.

There has been a sudden increase in the popularity of darts thanks to this Luke Littler with the  likes of Argos and amazon  suddenly having a massive demand for dart boards. Strange this is the one sport in the World we actually dominate  :D

HMRC have already put in their claim, hope the boy has got the business side sorted out.

Also hope he doesn't get sidetracked by the bright lights like that young tennis playing girl who took the world by storm a few years back, and then bombed, tout suite.

Darts was always quite popular in this country not only to play but also watch on TV back when the BBC actually had live sport before the cunts at Sky bought the rights to everything

I had a crappy darts board when I was a kid (one of those 2 sided ones with concentric rings on the back) then age about 11 my dad bought me a decent board and set of darts, it was the only thing my dad actually did with me in terms of playing games when I was a kid apart from playing whist.

Remember John Lowe AKA Stone Face and then the Crafty Cockney Eric Bristow who suddenly took the game by storm

As a country we have always been good at darts and other things like snooker, basically pub games  :drinks:
Now where my shove ha'penny board

Sports which involve plenty of drinking whilst playing and the only physical exertion is walking to the bar to fetch another pint. We are definitely World beaters at these two sports  :D

I believed that moderate amounts of booze improved my performance at darts and snooker, raising my game from total crap to near useless.

And didn’t Bill Werbeniuk claim his huge lager consumption (40+ pints a day) was essential to his game? (Pretty sure he tried to claim it against his taxation income, as a necessary business expense. Think he lost the case.)

Absolutely fantastic darts tournament and I'm sure Littler will get a new generation interested. Let's just hope he doesn't throw his talent away like some other boy wonders.

Story in one of today's papers showing people queuing up outside a shop in his hometown of Warrington to buy dartboards so he's certainly caught people's interest.
I remember Keith Deller winning his first World title beating Eric Bristow in the final, he was going to be darts next big thing but never really added any more World titles.  Like you say sport is littered with people who have success early then go off the rails.
