Crikey! I wouldn't be able to fit all that, as lovely as it sounds.

Christmas dinner is the only meal of the day for me as I can't fit much. I just have a coffee for breakfast then for my main meal turkey, pigs in blankets with all the usual vegetables. A glass of wine and some port to wash it all down.

Going to my daughters for Xmas Dinner, she is on veggies, son is on pudding, I'm on the meat  :D

So she's doing honey roast carrots and parsnips, roast potatoes,  roasted Brussels sprouts with Pancetta and sweet chestnuts, cauliflower cheese or brocoli,  Yorkshire puds.

I'm doing the turkey so I will either do a crown or bone a whole bird and stuff to make a roll.
Either way it will be stuffed with sausages rolled in ham, duck breasts, cranberry and sweet chestnut sausage meat and pistachio and lemon stuffing.
Obviously there will also be pigs in blankets  :yahoo:
Might roast a ham as well

My son is making the apple crumble for desert

Tbh it will be way too much food but it's a chance for me to leave all the extra there for her over Xmas as she's not exactly flush atm and doesn't like handouts, this way it's a bit hidden.

When on earth was that introduced?
Never heard of it until recently.
Certainly not in the 40s/50s/60s/70s ???.
I don't mind Yorkshire pudding, but it takes up too much room on the plate.
Same when you go for a carvery.
You need as much room on your plate for the good stuff. :D

Steak pie , chips and mushy peas for me. Maybe Xmas pudding.

The big question is what do you have with your apple crumble  Custard,  fresh cream, or Ice Cream ?

Fresh cream and ice cream, not heard of that one before. I don't mind either but both together  :unknown:
Has to be custard as No 1 choice.

They're just bits of stodge, - no one needs them in their lives in 2023.

I'm going selfish this year.

09:00 coffee and pastries
14:00 tomahawk with Aunt Bessie's. I can't be fucked with att the washing up and the steak should not be messed with. Dessert is 2 GU chocolate billionaires cheesecakes.

18:00 onwards is biscuits and cheese.

There will be a selection of lager and wine, after 20:00 it will be Bailey's followed by a fine single malt.

I'd love to throw in a WG but I doubt any are working in Xmas day let alone offering out calls.

Traditionally in Britain we would have had Goose rather than Turkey which is an American import, not sure why Turkey is so expensive compared to Chicken, probably as it takes a lot longer to rear  :unknown:

Anyway this Fast Show sketch says Turkey is rubbish  :D

I do christmas dinner and have done for a number of years, now it my job boxing day as we go to my sons on the big day.

I now have all the family down 8 plus now my new lady for her first time.

Yorkshire pudding served the proper Yorkshire way as a starter with beef gravy.

Traditional roast turkey and pork served with roasties, carrots, sprouts, parsnips, turnip, green beans, mushroom home made sage and onion stuffing served with either Mushroom sauce or Turkey gravy  cranberry sauce.

Christmas pudding with rum sauce

Everything is all fresh cooked, no frozen

Wine either white or red I love red, sod rules

Kids have a special ginger punch I make up

Tea ( I am a northerner) is

Cold Meats inc ham, pork pie, sausage rolls, salad, bread, a selection of pickles

Sherry trifle or black forest gateau

Mince pies,  lemon tarts, jam tarts, coconut tarts and almond tarts, cream if required

And a fresh pot of tea

Xmas dinner, so I miss my mum, as she always made the best bread stuffings, just bread, eggs, and onions.  As kids we would fight over these stuffing, so a lot of the time, my mum made extra stuffings

French fries and prunes  :scare: yes to French fries but Prunes !
Ice cream and hot custard , this is definitely too weird.
There are some interesting variations on the traditional Christmas dinners but this has to be the oddest

None for me thanks. I need as much room as possible in my gut for the good stuff.

Wasn't the original idea of it for impoverished Yorkshire folk to stave off hunger pains and manage with minimal if any costly meat ?

Only use for a yorkshire pudding is to completely cover the plate so it stops sprouts and gravy from falling off. Everything goes inside the pudding

Offline Stevelondon

Bucks Fizz in the morning. Bit of a ritual.

Dinner is only ever dinner, no starter. Turkey, lamb with lots of veg and yes to Yorkshire puds.
Black Forest gat and log of some description.
Wines, brandy.

Usually cold meat platter, olives, cheese and stuff in the evening with a good port.

Got a 40 year old malt as a final nightcap. Bit of a treat. 👍🏻

If I make it home it’ll be Kinkku (ham)which is traditionally served with salad or it could be Reindeer  then we hit the sauna.
No Xmas experience can beat my mother setting fire to the tree which was covered in candles.

Depends I choose whatever I want to eat, or whatever is being provided by my host. This year venison, other years have been salmon, duck, turkey, steak. With the venison roast potatoes, carrots, Brussel sprouts, gravy and damson sauce.

Apple crumble for dessert.
