I recently had to do a John Redwood when reaching the end of a wonderful male voice choir concert taking place over the border in North Wales.

I know the tune to the wonderful Welsh National Anthem and hummed along as best I could, but I was sitting near the front and could feel the eyes of all the choir members watching and mocking my feeble attempt.  :D

London is closer to France than Glasgow is. Google maps are not needed to work this one out  :hi:

Remember the Top Of The Pops LP's? The hits of the day rendered by session musicians. Saucy covers too.

Sue Shaw, super hot in her day, was the body double for Susan George in the infamous sex scene in Straw Dogs movie. Alas died a few years back.

Scientists have declared that Botticelli’s Venus may have died after rape caused brain rupture.

Surely there are enough problems in the world today to allow these “scientists “ to spend their time on something useful?

Scientists concerned that global warming could change AMOC (Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation) of which the Gulf stream is part; resulting in much colder winters for us

AMOC is a major part of the system the Earth uses to even out the fact that the Equator collects so much more solar energy than the poles It redistributes vast amounts over 50 times humanities total energy production

That's something I have never heard about.

You should do a post in the thread, "what have you learned today"

Anyway the real point in posting is this in relation to people drowning in water, this was on the local news about a woman drowning and her husband being critically ill after going into the sea at Rossall beach which is just South of Fleetwood and North of Blackpool

This is something that has been on the news for as long as I can remember as they went into the sea to help rescue their fucking dog  :dash:

Oh and as usual the dog managed to get out and is OK  :dash: :dash: :dash:

Dogs are far better swimmers than people yet people still risk and lose their lives trying to rescue them

An update on this story. The man has thankfully recovered. However the story as reported in the press is not accurate. The couple and their dog were apparently all walking out on the beach. The tide came in rapidly behind them and they were cut off on a sandbank. The beach is notorious for this happening.

They tried to walk back through the water channel but got into difficulty. Neither were swimmers and she drowned and he almost did.
They were recovered by Coastguard staff who had been alerted and fortunately were already close by. They also rescued the dog. The latter would also have probably drowned otherwise. The staff were also taken to hospital.

This version of events was reported on Social Media at the time by eye witnesses and has since been confirmed by the surviving male.

However the press seemed to decide their version made a better story?

Interesting, I have indeed seen people rushing to pick up their belongings and wade to shore while crowds of people watch and laugh (hopefully not in this case) I do walk along that stretch albeit to the south and the coastguard do patrol along the prom as the tide is coming in and use the loud hailer to warn people but they have a fair few miles of coast and a lot of people to deal with
