Context: In the absence of my partner studying in Italy for 6 months, I thought I'd like to enjoy a little Italian culture myself. I found Elettra.

Event: 4+ hours, mixed social and intimate time; £2,000+ all in.

Organisation: email correspondence to establish parameters of the meeting, a bit of too and fro. Professional and efficient, with a hint of Elettra's wit and intelligence.

Elettra: well represented in both the images and words on her website. I wanted classic 1950's pin-up hourglass curves and elegance and that's just what was delivered. On the social part of the 'date' Elettra drew admiring glances from both men and women....

Event: Drinks and nibbles in a discreet, dark bar (with a bit of a reputation for illicit trysts; I could tell the tale of me and a pretty notorious woman MP many years ago.....); conversation that grew increasingly flirtatious, accompanied by a little furtive touching. Then onto a cultural event with Elettra as my 'plus 1'; drinks and canapés and appreciation of the artefacts on display; humorous, intelligent conversation throughout. Then, to Elettra's estimable flat in Covent Garden for a pretty vigorous sexual workout in which I (certainly) and Elettra (I believe) achieved several orgasms.....

Verdict: Exceptional I plan to see Elettra again (and hopefully again). She's definitely one for those who take an expansive view of the punting life. Definitely not for those who, in the words of Oscar Wilde, 'know the price of everything and the value of nothing."

Indeed, and sorry to disappoint: I wanted to give enough for it to be interesting but not so much as might blow my cover with her (not sure she's keen on being mentioned here).

The bar is not a million miles from Charing Cross station and though still charmingly atmospheric as lost some of its slight sleaziness in recent years because of the influx of corporate types into the area. Yes, PWC, I am thinking of you.......

You're thinking of Gordon's, which I agree is pretty cliched these days. Directly opposite PWC and now full of corporate suits thinking they are being edgy. It used to be fun when old man Gordon was about the place every day, but those days are long gone, sadly. I remember being in there in the early/mid 90s when an rather obscure Lord Commissioner of the Treasury up-ended a young journalist over ne of the tables and proceeded to spank her after taking exception to her coverage of some government fiasco or other.....

Gordon's and London in general is all very tame by comparison

And, though your final sentence is technically correct, there are but a handful of pubs remaining in central London that remain worthy of going into, and fewer still where one would take one's (or a) mistress.

The place to which I referred is a little further west, for what it's worth.
