Author Topic: Scammer phone call  (Read 2001 times)

So last week I received a phone call from a mobile number on my punting phone, I was looking for a punt so had sent out a couple of messages.

Phone call went like this:

Hello
Hello
My name is ***** and we have a problem
What problem?
You booked my escort last time and didn’t show up so I have lost money
What?
I have just gotten out of jail and found out that you wasted my escorts time and lost me money so we have a problem
Which escort? (I asked stupidly)
The blonde one

After which I hung up and blocked the number

Just turned my punting phone on again today and received another call from another mobile number:

Hello
Hello My name is ***** and we have a problem,

After which I hung up.
I kept my punting phone on out of curiosity if I would receive any follow up calls from a different number but nothing as of yet.

Anyone else had anything similar recently? I’m guessing someone is out there fishing to see if they can scare someone into giving them money or something

I haven’t wrote the name the guy told me which I’m guessing was fake anyway just to keep a little bit of anonymity for myself in case anyone who shouldn’t be reading this is (sorry for the paranoia)

Been reported on here a few times, was it from a British phone number?

I've had that as a call and text message before

They wanted £1500 or they'd tell my family about seeing escorts. Good luck with that contacting my punting phone.

Told them to get fucked 🤣😁

Iv had it many of times. One time i had the text me app (virtual punting phone) open and received a call when out for beers. The scammer tried to extort me for £1000 threatening to hurt my family and dox me. I said to him, no problem i will pay you any amount of money come meet me at darlington station for the cash. I will see you there with 20 travelling men ready with £50 crisp notes. Guy started waffling to make himself sound intimidating but i literally couldn’t understand the gibberish coming out of his mouth. He literally waffled for ten minutes was quite funny. The scammer sounded eastern european but with a northwest accent. Kinda like he has always lived here but with EE twang.

Yeah, I just hung up and blocked the number and will continue to do so if I get anymore calls.

I expected it was a regular thing

How are they getting the numbers?

When you contact fake adverts, usually Vivastreet but it can be on other sites as well

Thanks, never had a punting phone before. Maybe time to get one
