Many punters on this site have commented that the area opposite the station feels dangerous. However, my experience having punted there in 22 and 23 is that it feels much better now.

On entering the doorways of delight you are still guaranteed to meet guys on the stairs; everyone ignores each other.
The biggest hassle is passing the (ladies) on tne street aggressively touting for you to go into the next-door establishments, well known for scams.
The steep-staired brothels themselves are suprisingly OK. On each level a number of doors will be open with a selection of girls beckoning you in. All look bored, most are on their phones, and almost all are smoking. Some are gorgeous, most are average.
