I'm not certain, however, it seems to me you can't tell what they're for and they're more intended as an indication of how well received your general posts are.

That being said, I don't think most people like posts that resonate with them, so certainly not an accurate indicator. Sure a mod or possibly a forum helper would be better suited to answer.

Something similar was used on another forum I frequented yonks ago. I just don’t get it. Unless there is an opposing option to the thumbs up it seems a pointless exercise.
I’m not going to mention anything more about it.

Completely agree with you. On the face of it, I think it’s a silly idea as all it causes is this nonsense. And then further along the line they could potentially be used as a badge of honour.

The only thing I can think of is it’s a data tool to see behind the scenes who is liking whose posts maybe? But that sounds a bit secret squirrel conspiracy theory.

Maybe that was because you were sticking to realistic posts, it seems the likes, are getting a bit out of hand now.
