I probably served you a drink or two  :hi:

Oh My God! I find that so romantic, I must have gazed at you lustfully. I have been so lucky in my life. I remember going to the Astoria round the corner from our offices when Fishbone were playing ... the lead guy used to play naked ... Crammed up  against the platform I traded phrases with him. Business was so good we booked the Natural History Museum for our Christmas do one year. It was all leather trousers, cock and pussy licking. Ah well. All is not yet lost: I have a freeby whipping and sucking 3-some lined up for next Tuesday.

I much preferred the previous practice of starting a new topic and dedicating a thread to pay respects to famous people who have passed away.

What do others think?

Yes, I'm with you on this one, helps to keep the extraneous posting in the right place, under the right heading.

Never got to see her live - a lifetime regret.

thank God for big screen HD units!!!
I saw her once at Birmingham Odeon, on her comeback. Not sure of the year, sometime in the 80's

According to The Times she only went along to the recording studio as her husband was playing and when the producer wanted the lyrics sung in English her husband couldnt do it so she volunteered - but never got paid

Apparrently it is the second most recorded song - after Yesterday

Tony McPhee, singer and guitarist with The Groundhogs dead at 79, RIP

I used to go and see him play at The Ken Colyer Club on Sunday afternoons in the late sixties, good guitarist.

I was in Italy probably 12 or 15 years ago on business and we were being driven around by the Italians we were visiting, one of our guys commented about all the posters up for various candidates and the driver went off on a right rant about Berlusconi

He's a fucking thief; he's a fucking criminal; he's in bed with the fucking mafia, it went on and on........................  :diablo:

I put him down as undecided   :D

i would not say he is best known for being in grease. He was in the theatre musical and not the film. He is properly best known for his movies such as Dolly Parton's Christmas on the Square (2020). He was good in that.

592 appearances for Chelsea, a loyal servant to the club. I'm surprised he only won one England cap.

I was sad to hear this. I have read three of his books (The Road, Blood Meridian, All the Pretty Horses) and do intend to get around to reading more.  I have always praised him highly when he came up in conversation. His writing was glorious I remember writing down a few lines from The Road so I could reread them again easily later on.

I saw him play for Chelsea during his second spell with the club. They were in the old Second division then (nowadays the championship for younger readers), and Stamford Bridge wasn't the stadium it is now that's for sure!

It seems as though he had dementia. He has paid the ultimate price from  all the heading of the old leather balls like Jeff Astle and many more players from that era . I'm sure there will be many more in the next few years

Went down my local chippie, guessing in the 80's, during election campaigning, and was introduced to Glenda (by the chippie manager). She was sitting in the adjacent, empty shop unit, having a fish and chip break, along with her campaigning crew. Felt a bit awkward being ushered up before her, but she was a very approachable, and humble individual. I just remember her mentioning how good the chips were. Had to pinch myself when i got back home, trying to explain events to the family. A very surreal experience. She didn't convince me to vote Labour though. lol

Yeah ,most people forget she was also a Labour MP for over 20 years, a woman with strong moral values. A pity most of this government don't share the same trait.

As a young kid I grew up on Marvel comics
( I wish I kept them as they would probably be worth a few quid now) I dont like the way the modern comics are drawn nowadays. They lack the graphic detail of the 60's and 70's comics. They are nowhere near as good as artists like Steve Ditko and John Romita. When I was young I always wanted to be a comic book illustrator when I grew up. Unfortunately I didn't have the artistic talent to follow that career path  :dash:

I learned yesterday that Linda Lewis had died in May.
Not a massive star, but very pretty with a very distinctive voice. She appeared in the first Glastonbury.
Definitely left her mark on the 1970's.
