just seven weeks after he revealed he had been diagnosed with stage four cancer.

They do say that 50% of us will get cancer in our lives although I think in our old age cancer is just natural mutation introduced by the human body's process for replacing cells not working so well as we get older.

At least he got to watch one last World Cup and see England make it to the semi-finals.

RIP KK.- A legend with every team he played for and most definitely a legend as player and manager on Tyneside. Always gave 110% in every game. I met him once through work and  he came across as a genuinely nice bloke full of enthusiasm. When I mentioned I was a red and white he said he wanted to see us back in the top flight which pretty much sums up the good guy he was.

He never played for my team but he was one of the few non-Villa players that I genuinely liked. I remember having a pair of Patrick Kevin Keegan football boots which were fantastic and were the boots to be seen in at the time.

He also seemed to be a genuinely good person too.

RIP Kevin Keegan, you may not have been the most skilful player of your era but no-one matched your courage and will to win.

He just did 'an audience with' at Newcastle Tyne theatre on 31st May so all quite quick really, it was only announced he had cancer in January.

A bit of a slide from there, better that rapid rather than lingering me thinks
Most people like to think nice things about people when the clock is ticking round to midnight

Rest in peace King Kev, a true legend. I was there when he scored on his debut for Newcastle.

Signed for Liverpool by 'Shanks' in 1971 and he formed a prolific and historic strike partnership with John Toshack.
During his time with The Reds he scored 100 goals in all competitions and achieved 3 First Division titles, 1 FA Cup, 1 European Cup and
2 UEFA Cups.

Funnily enough the only time I met him was in Newcastle.
I was competing in a swimming gala and afterwards we ended up in some big nightclub in town sitting on the next table to Kevin and his mate Terry McDermott.
He enjoyed reminiscing about his time with his hero and mentor Shankly.

I'm a Man U fan, so probably have no special reason to feel sad about Kevin Keegan dying.
But I do feel sad. For me he's embedded in the fabric of my long ago younger years, not just his skill as a footballer, but also his look and just how he was as a person, so emblematic of an era long gone.

He must have been fighting hard through the earlier stages of cancer, but sadly the fight was lost. He may have had a weakened immune system and he would have been a shadow of the athletic and passionate man he once was.  He may have been in a lot of pain and thus been on a lot of medication to try to make him comfortable. He would have stopped eating and been fed by tube. He would have been weak and possibly asleep for a lot of the time as the cancer took its toll on his body and probably bedridden for his last few weeks. He would have been on end of life care with his body slowly shutting down. His light was dimming and then it flickered out.

It would be nice to think that he had watched and listened to the World Cup in his last few weeks and days. That he had sat watching the games laughing with his friends and family remembering better times, but the reality was probably very different and he was probably unconscious on medication to ease his passing.

I don't know how you can possibly know any of this. If what you say is true how come he was answering question on stage in a theatre in front of a live audience one week after the announcement? 

Why do people have to sepculate about someone's final days, just let them rest in peace or talk about the positive things they've done in their life.

Because I had a neighbour who died of cancer. He was fine and then got diagnosed with cancer and it had spread to multiple organs and bones and it was too late to do anything. He was given 18 months to live and died in 5 weeks after the diagnosis. I used to visit him and saw him fade away with them giving him morphine to help with the pain.
