For anyone curious about the new(-ish) iPhone virtual app, I thought a screen shot might be handy -
They have just updated it to include an automatic login (there's still a momentary pop-up when I use it that says "coming soon", but it has indeed just come,
so I guess they'll be removing the pop-up presently.)
The virtual app has its good and bad points. The auto login option is a great step forward if your phone is secure. Typing in those turing letters can be annoying enough on a big screen, but it was even more so on a mobile phone. The mobile screens are fairly intuitive though using a slightly different layout to the desktop version. Most features are accessible - though I haven't, as yet, found a screen that will display the equivalent of "all correspondence" with the dates and times a sent email has been read (or not read as the case may be).
It's fast and gives very handy access including the little things like saved searches, hotlists, notes you've added about a particular profile, and so on. You can do all the usual search parameters and I'd say at a fraction of the speed that it takes on the desktop version.
As it's a 'virtual app' - one that acts like an app but uses safari - it gets round Apple's idiotic restrictions on erotic content. Just bookmark it, save it as an icon to your homescreen, and you're away.
I've only looked at it here from the punter's perspective, but it would be interesting to hear from WGs or people using it to update their profiles and access their bookings too.
I expect various other features will be in the pipeline. We might get annoyed with their ethics regarding fake profiles (though even if the clean-up rate seems improved with the efforts of Jacob and others), but technically it is impressive, even by the standards of free apps. I've had a couple of error screens occasionally but nothing that looks like more than a minor teething problem. And an advantage of not having to run it through Apple's tiresome and (allegedly) time-consuming approval process means that they can add updates and improvements ad hoc.Mind you, I think it will be a long time before we get this app:
