Hi there, I was wondering if there are any saunas operating in Glasgow anymore? Venus Sauna Club etc?
Banned reason: No reviews since 2017 despite the one “back in the day” mentioned

Funny you should ask this after just 5 years.
How time flies.  :music:
There is one opening , possibly soon….it’s scheduled for the day exactly 5 years after your first review. :hi:

I can see you only log in a couple of times a month tops, is there any reason you haven’t contributed in the last 5 years to the site.
I assume by your questions your still active ?

Daft thing is google Venus Sauna and the internet still thinks its operating - further down the screen and news articles show how a Chinese owner of numerous saunas fled to Hong Kong and Bubbles was demolished after a vice squad bust.

l think the commonwealth games closed most of them down and cleaned up the street scene

Mr House closed all the hetro saunas but left the gay ones alone, never could figure out why.  :scare: :hi:

Perhaps he is that way inclined, himself and just looking after the old "gay" boys club. :unknown: :hi:

I've got some good memories of Bubbles, Sauna Royale near the Mitchell Library,  and the one in Otago St in the West End, but cant remember its name. (was it Oasis?)

I remember going there many years ago when I was young and naive. Didn’t know really what to expect and when I went in there was no one at the desk. I waited a minute or two then left again.

You didn't miss much.

Only went once, but that was enough. Plenty of better options available at the time...most if which have been mentioned already.

I can't be the only one confused by the conflicting statements in this thread. So which ones are actually active?
And does anyone have weblinks for them?

As far as the street scene is concerned, I'm not sure why it hasn't popped up again somewhere else. (Apologies if it has. I don't live in the city, so might not be up to date). I walked through the old Anderston Bus area just a few weeks ago and there's so much activity there in the evening than there used to be, so I can see how it wouldn't be possible to engage in the sort of activity that it was renowned for 20 years ago, but that's just urban evolution I guess. I'd have expected supply and demand would just move the trade to somewhere more appropriate.

It's not as if the internet has changed the market either. If you're just looking for a sour of the moment hand job for a tenner and don't really give a fuck what she looks like (ok, 20 allowing for inflation) I don't think that's catered for by the online trade! The Commonwealth Games theory doesn't really seem to cut it as a plausible explanation for that.

Absolutely none are active.

Sadly.

Scutty, its just some locals having fun and sharing memories of the now long gone years when Glasgow had several saunas. The only one now is the aforementioned Pipeworks, a gay sauna.

The only trace of the Bubbles Portakabin is the sign on Streetview from 2008

Club Royale, loved that place.

The only girl that I can remember from there is Chloe, who I saw a few times.

Was there not one on Maryhill Road just before/after where the canal goes over the road?

Ok I remember a Russian(maybe) girl called Eva who took a dislike to me for some reason I never knew about so she refused to see me after that. Shame as she was hot. Also from there someone called Evangelina/Evangeline

Funny to imagine people live in these places now. Venus was turned into a house a wee small house. You wonder if they know.

The street scene was cleaned up prior to the games taking place and never resurfaced due to zero tolerance.Maybe the market for 20 quid handjobs in alleyways isn't as big as you think.

I don’t think there’s much demand for it, and even less “supply” that’s willing to do it anymore

Too little money for how unsafe it is means its not worth it for the women

Anybody desperate enough for drug money to agree to street stuff is probably going to take the cash and run or not be good service which would put clients off after that

Parkgrove, Royale and Park Circus or something off Woodlands road.

Online myothernameis

I remember there was also a sauna place in Maule drive, Partick, and the entrance was of a yellow colours, and opened up in the mid 90's

Offline Squire Haggard

Going back a bit, both on Glasgow South Side, one of these rows of shops had a Lady Godiva sauna from 1984ish. Maybe shut around 1988? Several shut around then because of licensing, according to an SP I was with.

Another short lived one from the same era was the Muirend sauna. It was in this row of shops.

The one on Vicky Road had a couple of names - it was also the 5:20 Club for a while.

That’s how I remember it - you could literally just poke your head through the door and see who was working 🤣🤣👀

One of the First sauna I visited, was either in Pollockshaw road, or more likely on Clarkston Road, just before or after the railway bridge.

In the mid 80's there was a news story, about a sauna/massage doing extras, so I went to see what the fuzz was about, my first experience with sex.

I also remember another suana, located near the Kelvin hall, in one of the side streets

I think St Enoch sauna was the last to go. Would either have been late 2013 or early 2014.

What I miss about them is you could just turn up and not have to make an appointment.

Nowadays you have to book at least an hour in advance….
