I also have a 'cursed car'. A few years ago when they changed the regulations for driving London so that if you had a 'Euro 5' engine in your car then you were liable to pay some stupid amount 'per day' for the pleasure. However, if you had a 'Euro 6' engine then you were exempt. At the time my car was 'Euro 5' so I traded it for a car with a 'Euro 6' engine.
I'd had the car for 2 weeks when somebody ran into the back of me at traffic lights! I was 4th in the queue at the lights ... the lights changed and the first car (a 'Learner') stalled ... the car behind me saw the lights change and pulled-away ... into the back of me! I guess he'd driven maybe 3 metres and maybe was between 5mph and 10mph. It dented my boot lid and cracked the rear bumper (which is plastic anyway) ... but, first incident/accident/whatever in 33 years!

Oh no. At least if some1 gone into you. Poss claim. Where there is a blame. Theres a claim.
Sadiq khans euro 5 policy is another rubbish one by the so called mayor. Under his scheme a 1.2 derv fiesta would pay ulez if registered before 2015. But a 6.0 lambo no ulez.

The 6.0 pollutes london more.

Wait till euro 7. They are troublesome

Can you offer an explanation for both of those statements please.

Well the 6.0 is pushing more c02 then a 1.2 derv fiesta. Just because of reg its allowed ulez free.

Euro 7 has a lot of filters. Added unreliabilty. Live sensors too for emissions. Some car manufactures had to detune to meet the regs.

Uk should have left the euro emission with brexit tbh

And what's also really annoying is that your next insurance premium will increase, even though it's demonstrably not your fault, and you probably have a protected no claims discount.

You're comparing a diesel to a petrol aren't you?

Also, what about the other nasties being emitted, which are just as dangerous, if not more so.

Im just saying khans policies are crap. The 6.0 petrol pollutes more then the 1.2 derv. But because of reg the 6.0 is exempt.
I drive a 3.0 twin turbo so emissions is not reallyn mportant to me.  But khans policies make no sense

Majority of bus users in my area have free passes anyway, bus cap fare is OK for longer distances but personally my weekly ticket costs more than double what it did 2 years ago.. if the rules hadn't changed years ago in England , I wouldn't be a grump now.

Why are you bringing politics into a discussion about a car accident, the reason he changed car is irrelevant to the point he's making.

The net effect of that is that all of our premiums increase.

This issue has been pissing me off for a while...  How would you pull a nephew aside and tell them to stop taking the piss!??

Long story,,,
My nephew and his mum are absolute piss takers.  His mum works a low paying job but brags her distant family has money, and if he doesn't succeed in education, he can go work for them in Australia.   She's given him a debit card and see's all his spend and often goes ballistic.  He eats places like Haidilao with his friends and settles the bill.

Whenever they go out with us, it's 3 courses and rather than eat the plate, they'll leave a load of food behind.   Drinks they'll order wine and cocktails, whereas everyone else is on water (driving), soft drinks or a beer.

Recently on nephews 18th.  My sis asked him what he'd like for a present.  He straight up said he wanted VR googles or Mac Book Pro. WTF!!     I rang her and said just give him £50 or get him a clothes item.  He got his mum to buy him a Mac book, which no doubt will be tossed aside in a month or so.  He also wanted to celebrate with his friends (no family) at a City roof top bar.  His mum put an end to that fantasy

The other day my niece took us all to a restaurant for her bday. (She was paying).   Drivers were again on water and soft drinks and everyone else stuck to soft drinks.  Nephew ordered a Korean cocktail to start.  Later orders a bottle of Soju.  His drinks bill alone was £20.    He's on a carb diet and orders an extra plate of Bulgogi for himself, and shared the rest of our BBQ.

The lad seems to know no limits.   I've told him previously that whenever you go out with friends (or in the future at work), always be aware of what others are ordering so you do not stand out.

This lad lacks any type of etiquette.  Never says thanks and never says hello to elders.   Do I just suck it up and ignore it.

Never says thanks and never says hello to elders.

As in lacking basic manners at 18 :dash:

Something that stuck with me, many years. I remembered how respectful with manners a school friend used to be, in our early teenage years.

Watched an episode of "24 hours in police custody" the other day.

2 scrotes try to burgle a house. The alarms/CCTV alert the homeowners ( a decent, hardworking electrician) . He runs out and they scarper on a stolen motorbike.  He gives chase in his BMW.

Somewhere along the line he catches up and knocks them from the bike. The pillion passenger isn't wearing a helmet. Both are injured.

Police then arrest him for GBH.
Four weeks later the police  stop a stolen car, with false number plates. It's the same two as before.

The CPS decide it is " in the public interest" to prosecute the homeowner, and charge him with causing injury through dangerous driving. He gets 22 months inside.

They charge the 2 scumbags with numerous offences. The judge says that they bear a significant amount of blame for their injuries. They get 2 years, suspended, as the judge reckons their injuries will make life difficult in prison.

Unbelievable.

That was a few years ago and the trial did show that he deserved to be charged and found guilty. He rammed the bike they were on. A homeowner is generally allowed to pursue people he reasonably suspects of committing an offence, but that doesn't give him unlimited freedom to use force.

Using a car to ram a bike makes me question whether that action was reasonable and proportionate. They tried to break into his house, they weren’t successful so in legal terms he’s on very thin ice.

The law is an ass. In natural justice if someone tries to break into your home you should be permitted to thump them, or pursue them and then thump them.

He didn’t thump though did he? He drove at them, knocking them off their bike. That’s not proportionate action, they didn’t actually break into his house.

If you take the law into your own hands then you must face the consequences when you take things too far.

why cant we have a simple additional law that if you commit an offence while on bail then on conviction the penalty is doubled - and the sentences are cumulative

Last Wetherspoons I visited most of the customers could easily avoid music from other peoples phones by turning off their hearing aids
