You are wrong on the first point, filtering at the cones causes bigger queues, if everyone stayed in single file it would just flow through in single file, if someone blocks it they should be applauded and staying beside them you will find you get through much quicker. filtering causes stop start traffic.
The quicker it gets in single file the quicker it will move.
Would argue that point with anyone  :D, spent enough years and miles on the road to know it is fact.

On the second point, what Police?

Road works and traffic cones in general piss me off especially when there is a long stretch of road coned off for miles before and after the road works or even worse roads coned off  and there is no fucker actually doing any roadworks. Sometimes roads seemed to be coned off weeks in advance before they start doing any road works  :dash: as regard queues you are supposed to merge in turn but it is fucking annoying when you reduce your speed to the limit shown of 30 or 40 mph then some cunt goes past you at 60mph  and tries to cut in at the last moment and it's usually arseholes in Range Rovers or BMW 4x4 drivers

Gotta be honest, I was always under the belief that both lanes are to be used upto the point where the lane ends, the cones begin and single lane is the only option.

Pretty sure this is considered good road practise but it's more of a psychological tendency to fall into line straight away and get pissed off at others who "seemingly" skip the queue.

Highway Maintenance do not have enough places to store the cones.
They have to constantly be out on a road somewhere.
The few storage places they do get tidied up and emptied a few days before Bank Holiday weekends just to piss off the day trippers.

Anti social people should be brutally beaten up by a special task force of police instead of giving stupid nonsense court orders that do nothing at all..

Folk who are rude to people who are just doing their job for no particular reason, treat people as you would expect to be treated yourself.  I was in the chemist the other day and the woman in front of me was just really rude to the bloke serving her with a prescription, no thank you or please or fuck all. She had to wait so I made a point of saying please and thank you at the top of my voice.

Folk who use “of” instead of have.

Drivers who can’t pull over on the motorway, if you are not overtaking fucking move over to left lane if it free.

I’m sure I will think of more, as others have said this will run for a while!

Yeah they even made it law to try and improve it but loads of people still do it and i'm not aware of the police having a crack down or really enforcing it, think there may have been a handful of prosecutions but you would have thought a few traffic cops would have had it as one of their "Pet" hates.

Another one that pisses me off is drivers who don't have their kids strapped / belted in the car properly.
I was parked up a couple of months back a mile or so North of Blackpool Prom waiting for the "Ready" text  and a big BMW looked like an M5 or similar came past with a kid about 10 years old literally hanging out of the passenger window  :dash:
I'm assuming his Mum or Dad was driving but whoever it was is a total cunt for endangering the child, IMO they should be done for child abuse or endangering the life of a child if there is such a thing

Sometimes think our “welfare society” has gone bonkers.

There’s a child cruelty case in papers today where a couple with 8 kids and numerous dogs were effectively starving the kids. Always sickening (cruelty) but one of the kickers was that the couple were claiming 84 grand a year in welfare payments.

84 grand! Add numerous other benefits society would be providing for them (free health care, free schooling for kids, etc)…and then ask yourself how much some one working (and paying tax) would need to earn to clear 84k.

It’s a lot of people paying tax to fund just one family.

I don't know what it is but it's normally the shop assistant who goes and get's the sealed bag with my prescription in that has already been checked and dispensed by the pharmacist, she checks my address matches that on the seal on the bag and hands it over. The pharmacist is either busy dispensing other prescriptions or in his office. He apparently has to physically be on the premises, he never rechecks what is being given out.    :unknown:

I can understand them not dispensing a prescription without the pharmacist being present, that's his job, but I order my repeat prescription online and my docs send it to the pharmacy. The pharmacist then counts all the medication out (I've seen him do it) puts them in a paper bag, prints a label with my name and address on and seals the bag with it. It then goes on a shelf waiting for me to collect and when I do it's the shop assistant who hands it over.  Why does the pharmacist have to be on the premises when he's done his job?   It's crazy.

Not on stretch of motorway I use!

In theory the really big lorries are limited to 60 on motorway, and many set speed limiter to that to ensure exact compliance….

But when I get close to my exit and pull into inner lane, and match speed to lorry in front of me, it doesn’t stop other lorries coming up close behind me and flashing their lights. No idea what they expect me to do…as I’m already on inner lane, matching my speed exactly to speed of lorry in front of me.

Some lorry drivers are cunts with tailgating in what is ultimately a battering ram
I have to say that on a busy motorway I feel safest in the outside lane away from the big stuff, whenever i've been on the inside lane with a lot of lorries including one right up your arse it's fucking scary  :scare:

I recall once about 25 or 30 years ago getting trapped in the inside lane behind a lorry with another one right behind me, the natural reaction is to pull out a gap and drive a bit closer to the one in front but the cunt behind then promptly closes the gap  :dash:
Couldn't pull out into the middle lane as there were another row of lorries in that one too which were all too close together and i'm not going to try and shoehorn my way in, problem was made much worse as it was raining and I couldn't hardly see fuck all due to the spary

My Dad used to drive smaller lorries not Artic's but always criticised they way most of them seem to be driven, I remember once we were doing 30 through a 30 limit town, traffic was fairly heavy and we couldn't go any faster but the lorry behind was only about a foot off his bumper and he thought it was fun to flash his lights and toot his horn.
I remember my Dad commenting "Look at this cunt; i'll fucking have him in a minute", got to a hill and my Dad slows the car down to piss the lorry driver off and almost comes to a stop before sticking his foot down and pissing off down the road, my Dad starts laughing as the trucker had stalled it and was struggling to get going again on the hill  :yahoo:

I know. It’s almost as if some lorry drivers are re-incarnated dogs, and are keen to sniff ones arse.

I agree with you that inside lane is often darn unpleasant…I avoid it until I get close to junction I’m exiting from.

In general on stretches I use, very, very difficult to maintain a sensible gap between self and other vehicles.

It's a legal requirement for all lorries to be fitted with tamper proof speed limiters set at 85/90kph (56mph) with slight leeway (which is why some lorries are 1 or 2 mph faster than another), unlike a car, the driver has no control over it, the speed limiter function is part of the annual MOT test and can also be checked at roadside checkpoints. There are some who do tamper with them but the penalties are quite severe and retrospective action can be taken by VOSA against drivers found to have been speeding during tachograph checks.

BTW all new vehicles over 3,500kg gross weight (Transit / sprinter type vans) have speed limiters now.

On your other point it sounds to me like you are leaving it until the last minute to pull into the nearside as close as you can to the slip road between two trucks, therefore taking up the one you pulled in front of's braking space, very dangerous and extremely selfish not to mention annoying. You have plenty of warning the exit is approaching, pull in to the nearside lane in plenty of time in a reasonable gap and don't force your way in at the last minute.

Offline Moby Dick

I see more problems with lorry drivers on the speed restriction/managed motorways and through roadworks. Limits are set as low as 40mph, mostly 50mph, which I tend to just put on cruise control and go into the wider inside lane, only to be overtaken by lorries who act as though they are invisible to the cameras and continue at 56mph.
Doesn’t annoy me but thought I would add to the discussion above.

What annoys me about lorries on dual carriageways / motorways is when you have a set of lorries taking several minutes to overtake each other and blocking the way, esp on 2 lane highways.

Are you cutting in too close to the lorry behind you?  I suspect they are flashing as they believe you have cut them up and forced them to brake.  Otherwise there is simply no reason to flash you.

Nah, speed limiters only apply to vans and trucks over 3500kg gross weight 99.9% of 'white van man' vans are 3500kg not over it so speed limiters don't apply.

Those who passed their test after January 1997 need to take another test to drive anything over 3500kg GVW. Apart from the licence part vehicles over 3500kg need to be fitted with a tachograph and the driver has to use it if used for commercial purposes.

Paramedics responding to a medical emergency were driving along the A4 Bath Road in Reading towards Maidenhead, Berks on February 2 when they overtook a red Suzuki Vitara, driven by Albert Butler.

The ambulance driver had switched on the blue lights and siren, but Butler, 38, decided to pull out directly in front of the vehicle and break - intentionally slowing it down.''
