I don’t mind having multiple cables when at home but the annoyance comes when travelling. I have so many Devices and they all use different cables, it becomes annoying.  Thankfully at least Three of my devices use USB-C and I managed to buy a multi device adaptor which allows me to charge my apple products without having to carry around the cables.

The best cable around is the Oneplus USB C cable that comes with most of their devices. It’s sturdy and can charge most devices.  I’ve had one for almost 3 years and it still works like a charm.

Apple will no doubt want to get around this issue even though they market themselves an environmentally friendly company not including the charger in the box. Everyone knows it’s because it’s extra income from them, especially their lightening cables.

I suppose it'll be necessary to still have different cables due to cars mostly having full USB slots but at least you can just leave that cable (USB to USB-C) in the glovebox and it doesn't have to cause annoyance in the house.
Plenty of buses and trains, hotel rooms, 13A sockets, and so on that have the old USB slots too.  Mind you, there is often a lead that someone has forgotten to take with them.

Typical of the EU to be 10 years behind the times

10 years ago every phone maker had its own charger with a permanently wired unique connection to the phone. I had a nokia - little round plug, a Samsung - little flat plug,  Sony flat plug with 2 little horns etc etc

Nowadays a single USB dual socket charger and 2 or at worst 3 leads fit everything I own

Apple are no  doubt developing a new connector thats 5x as fast as USB C
