It is difficult to comprehend what leads someone to commit a crime like this. It must’ve been a quite terrifying experience for the victim of this crime. At least she has been sent to prison. I would describe people like this as pond life, but that would be cruel to pond life.

I dare say that there are a raft of reasons why this individual has ended up like this and I suspect terrible parenting and feeble mindedness will be up there as a cause.

Looking at the state of her mug shots, drugs - looks nothing like back in the day. Proper skank. But as you say, upbringing may have been the biggest contributor.
