Author Topic: Making a Recommendation.....  (Read 1096 times)

Offline softlad

One of the main draws for a board like this is to pass on and receive information on WG's we have seen or plan to.
Everyone has their own idea of perfection, and what they find acceptable etc.
So sometimes it's quite a responsibility on the guy doing the recommendation by putting his name on the line so to speak, after all his intentions are to help out a fellow punter (hopefully).
Personally I have seen one girl off a recommend on here (who I would not have otherwise seen) and she did live up to my expectations, I said as much on my FR, and thanked the guy, If she had not, I wouldn't throw it back into the guys face, as moving forwards it is counter productive, in that no other recommends will be forth comming.
I think we should bare this in mind when making and receiving recommendations, that both parties have a responsibility.

I once made a recommendation via PM to a member (he had asked) and had it thrown back in my face that he had seen her and she was 10 years older than her advertised rate,
that was bollocks, so I gave him no more.

We should bare in mind, as punters we can and should help each other out, and as long as we stick together and play the game, we will all prosper.  :drinks:

Well said softlad  :drinks:

Like you said everyone has different tastes, what works for one may not for another.  If we get to a stage where no one recommends or reviews then we're all in the shit  :dash:

I think we are lucky on here, as we know the 'majority' are genuine punters, and we know a bit about each others reliability/history.
On PN on their requests for info there are a lot of first time or relatively new posters who have next to no history, which to me renders their info useless to me.
We have a wealth of experience on here, that should be respected and protected.  ;)

Excellent post Softlad. I had a punter PM me on auto-censored once looking for a recommendation which i gave, he PMd me back after punting with her to say he didnt rate her and i had wasted his money. Punters who think like this need to get a reality check, nothings guaranteed in punting, its all personal opinion. Its one reason of many i stopped doing FRs as once done its a one-way non-interactive report of course whereas a post or thread on a forum is interactive so punters can ask questions if they wish. The drawback being the post/thread will disappear into the archive but you should be able to relocate it if required.

From my point of view i appreciate any punter who PMs or otherwise privately gives me a recommendation even if i dont rate the WG myself, and unless otherwise agreed i keep that fact to myself. I might post about the WG but not how i first came to hear about her.  I certainly dont go round denigrating the punter unless i think they were dodgy which has happened.:D ;)

yes i know one guy on here who has very high standards but what he says on the board is v different from his pm's

+1 to the op, I used to get pm's on auto-censored asking for info and only once did I get a thanks or indeed any response at all.

It would be nice to see one or two more entry's into the good and bad sections as there are now plenty of members, but the number of reports don't seem to add up.

I agree, punting Is not an exact science, If a genuine punter gives you a tip, but your experience Isn't as good as his you shouldn't blame them, shit happens, helping other punters and getting some good tips Is the main reason for this board.  :drinks:

I think the trouble is most punts are no more than average, I would only ever write up either the very good, or the piss poor.
Nice to see you're doing your bit though Mancspunter, the chaps in your area are lucky to have you.  :drinks:

This is true I suppose a forum full of average reports would be a bit crap.

And thank you, I do my best  :drinks:

An issue we do have, which has reared it's head another thread, is that some people are for various reasons making recommendations by PM only.  I can understand the logic behind it but the question needs to be asked, are we here to help ourselves or are we here to help the wider punting community?

I don't mind too much because these are people based 100+ miles away so the chances of me needing there recommendation is quite slim.  Fortunately I do have someone on here who's not a million miles away who's more than happy to share info publicly & privately  ;)

Recommendations by PM only have always been occuring since i first joined auto-censored. Some will only share like that and it was that twat Interested that fucked on forum recs up in the Herts area with his trolling putting real punters off. Grassing on other punters and getting good threads where recs were being given locked or deleted, a right dickhead.

What others say is when they have given a rec the WG becomes harder to re-book and sometimes puts her prices up at least for a while while she is flavour of the month, i have experienced this myself so know its not bollocks. So a punter has to decide whether to share and how he wants to do so, is he going to be selfish or not.

I used to share all my punts on auto-censored but found i got little back so it was all give and little in return proving there were a lot of selfish punters sadly. MK is always well recommended but its too far for me unless i make a special effort which i am planning on. ;)

You make a valid point but I would rather give recommendations via PM if I intend to see the girl on a regular basis.
If I find a real gem, which is very rare, I don't want everyone to know about her, especially lurkers who give nothing to the forum.  ;)

that's also why I really did not share a recommendation because it would ultimately may not benefit the  punter
and I am also not too fusy so dont want to recommend a WG below par

Great post softlad and agree with most of the replies. I am new to this forum thing and only discovered UKP when I was reading stuff on PN where I was not a member there either - I was just aware of the site and looked at it from time-to-time. Most of my punts came from phone box cards ...
However, I have now joined both but only posted on here and realise that many of you appear to know each other. Anyway, a point was raised in of the replies about newbies; although I'm new to the forum thing I am an experienced punter so will endeavour to file a report when - as softland points out - I have a really good or bad punting experience ...
Now going back to the point of the post, I see a new thread had been started on Good Providers about a Snow White that advocates we all go to visit and pay her more money. Now something about that seems a bit odd so am about to go over to that thread and assume I will see many of you there  :)

Offline yumyum3

By the way, what does PM mean?

Offline yumyum3

Yes jimmy, now I see the PM deal and see your point about lurkers leeching info and not contributing.  :drinks:

I know the question was asked before on whether or not there should be a members only section.  I'm assuming that the outcome was a no, but is it worth having rethink?  The way I'd look at it is to keep all boards as they are with the exception of the Good Providers board.  Everyone deserves to know about the bad un's but maybe the better ones should be reserved for those who actively contribute to the site.

Probably won't make a huge difference with regard to how some recommend but might be useful in getting the lurkers to join in.  If they want to find out who the good ones are they will need to participate.

Offline yumyum3

A great suggestion. And to use current terminology its a carrot not a stick. :drinks: :)

I know the question was asked before on whether or not there should be a members only section.

I would be more likely to share info in such a section as opposed to passing info to Lurkers who contribute nothing.

I used to recommend on PN, post and pm  but I would sometimes get punters email me that they did not like the recommendation and thought differently and accused me of wasting their money.
I have always answered questions if a subject comes up, but now I stay with a friend a lot in what is described as a "punting desert" so it has been more regular fuck buddies.
