Do not get me started on this  :D.

I have been in contact with my MP about this, before the pandemic, after a walk, I complained to the Council who replied that there was no problem and they were happy with cleaning services.

I took the same walk, with a camera, took 90 pictures and sent them to the council and copied in everyone I could think of.

Within 90 minutes, there were cleaning and gardening teams on the streets, will be doing it again shortly.

Where I live, it used to be a relatively litter free area - until - they recently built a KrispyFriedCrap & McDogshites 1/2 mile away - now, our once quiet side road is strewn with fast food litter hurled from passing cars every day of the week.
So fkin annoying - local volunteers out every day cleaning up after the bunch of stupid, selfish twats who can't be arsed taking their trash home.  :dash:

if you drive through my town early in the morning there is a council guy picking up most of the litter that the idiots have thrown on the floor the night before  :dash:

What is just as annoying for me is the bastard near the street where I live who let's his or her dog shit on the pavement without cleaning it up  or at least put it onto the grass verge to let it shit then clean it up

Where i live is awful for littering. Grassy areas and walking paths just full of litter and crap. Particularly hate when people leave bin bags and other random shit in the back street expecting someone to magically take it away for them. I kicked off with a neighbour over this lol

Then along comes braindead with a mower or strimmer and chops the litter into little pieces while trimming the grass :D

I go out and make them litter pick if I catch them, fucking morons.  :D

Its the whole country. There are not enough bins these days in realtion to how many food places there are. Also people will not challenge others anymore(usually teenagers) when they drop litter. Back when i was a teen if i dropped litter the nearest bloke or woman would shouted at me to pick it up. Ialso do think the lack of road cleaners is a big issue, i cant remember the last time i saw one in my area. Also i do think takeaways and fast food chains need to take action on this, i went to a kfc in braintree and there was only 3 bins and all were overflowing and litter all over the floor.

You should all move to the Cotswolds there aren't even any porno mags to be seen in the verges when you're cycling.

The thing is, it should not be needed, if they made employees work the hours they are paid, and made sure they actually worked, there would be few problems.

Honestly, they leave the depot and that is it, nobody supervising, nobody cares if they come back as long as it is passed 11.30 am, even if they do not, they are incapable of working passed then, in my local park, nothing gets done after 10 Am, they just sit or sleep in trucks with the heater on, running diesel.

It is like they stop for a break and switch off for the day

I'm sure there used to be a time when Mcdonalds would get their staff to tidy any Mcdonald related litter within a certain radius of their restaurant. I wonder if they still do that now.

Near and outside HMO houses are particularly bad as it seems the tenants don't give a shit about the environment and neighbourhood they live in.

My local council certainly don't help as they charge for residents to have bulky household items removed (no.....I do not mean the Mrs!). I believe in the States they remove these items free of charge every so often. Charging for it over here only encourages fly tipping and what really makes me piss boil is the council will remove it free of charge eventually anyway.

Something that drives me mad, irresponsible dog owners. The amount of dog s**t where I live is ridiculous, what is wrong with these people?

Offline standardpostage

In my town, they closed the council recycling centre. Hence more fly tipping.
I think, the older you get, the more you notice litter. I never used to notice it prior to middle age.
Sometimes I pick up litter, and put in bin, if I know I will be passing a bin.
A few people in my area are volunteer litter pickers, we see them quite regularly.
We have a council cleaner, who pushes a dust cart, he does a good job.
As others have said, the large number  of take-away's creates lots of litter.
We do have litter wardens and dog poo wardens "but" they only catch a minuscule amount of people.

Offline suttonporksword

Our community have a fb page where you can adopt a local street to keep clean. Says a lot about how things are when  this is needed. Some of the streets with shops on them are fone regularly and its shocking how much is collected. I think the attitude of the skanks who litter is to do with our general attitudes to a throw away society, no pride in where they live and the view that someone else will always clear up after them. Shame we cant use CCTV to name.and shame them

Offline King Nuts

Maybe I live in a nice area, as I don't see a lot of on-street litter. But I do see a lot of it on trains. And the worst offenders are the middle class types, getting off the train at their stop, leaving coffee cups, discarded newspapers and other misc bits of litter on their table and on the seats.

They obviously have an idea that some minion will come along and clean up after them, but all that happens is that passengers who join the train at the stop where the litterers get off, have to clear it up and bin it themselves.

Now the weird thing is that I don't think these are bad people. They probably help their kids with their homework, recycle like crazy, and give money to ActionAid and so on, but for some reason, they get on a train and all their notions of good behaviour go out of the window.

I was brung up with the principle that you should leave a place as you found it. Not sure that message hit home with a lot of people though.

I got a bollocking off binmen for cleaning up litter outside my gaff and putting it in with my domestic rubbish for collection. We're talking about less than 10 poxy items of small detritus, fag packets, wrappers, cans etc

I still do it, I just bury it deep within my own rubbish now.

Lots of relatively quiet spots near me where people see fit to dump all sorts - fridges, mattresses, tyres and general building waste being the most popular. There are notices up warning against fly tipping but now suspect the powers that be now just turn a blind eye. Apparently my local council charges £25 to take 3 such items away.

Also, foxes have mastered the art of tipping up the bins outside all of the many local takeaways thus leaving all sorts of half eaten rubbish lying about.

Our local road sweepers are not exactly pro-active either.

Now, where's my flat cap.... :D

I live in a nice area but fly tipping is rife with renters who leave and I have noticed dog shit ( or is it fox shit) has increased on the pavement to the point you can not step outside without first having a whiff of it … the foxes ensure any litter bags are thoroughly knawed and inspected without fail ! I have to be careful when I run on the street to avoid any stinkers.
Looks like most people don’t care and neither do the councils. Plus most of our houses are tiny and there is not much space to store castaways. Didn’t someone say the start of anarchy is litter in the street and broken windows ( or is it broken cars)!  :(

I live in a cul de sac, and often the dog goes out the front, one evening he chased a fox out of the close, turned round all happy, with the fox following a few feet behind, came nearly to the gate, where I was watching, then repeated for about 20 minutes until I got bored.

I kid you not, for the next 2 weeks, every evening I was home, the fox would come to the gate and call loudly, I would open the door and off they went again, it only stopped when I got bored and stopped opening the door.

I have a video some where, but being a non techy, it is very dark and hard to work out.

Whatever you do don't step in fox shit. I know any shit stinks but fox shit is very difficult to wash away the smell. My dog, like most dogs, loves it and unless I am near her will roll around in it. Have special shampoo to wash it off her but it's a nightmare

Very true, people paving over gardens with block paving, hedges gone, hedgehogs declining, people just throw litter in parks after a day out like it’s normal behaviour.
