There is now this app you can get on any mobile device called "too good to go" which promises to save food waste by locating where you are and identifying local stores to you which are getting rid of stacks of packs of foods at really cheap prices. That maybe because they can't sell them at the regular prices because it is almost pass their sell by date or they want to make room for fresh food stock.
Big stores who have joined up are Costa coffee and pret a manger. Your local off licence have probley have already joined up it is growing in number. The only thing is the stores will give you a sense of a idea of the things you will get in a bag when you will pick it up from your chosen store but you cannot be fussy and want to pick what you get in a bag as it will be left over stock.
It is a great idea and a way to save a fortune on lunches or on your regular food shopping.

For me, I am using it not in a way to save money but rather in a way so I can do my bit for this country and reduce our nation food waste. I seen a documentary once a few years ago and it was about how much supermarket throw away good quality food at times because the quantity was there but the people that needed to buy the stock was not.
