Comms: Arranged via text the day before. There were no red flags at this point. She responded promptly and seemed enthusiastic about meeting up. Told me she couldn't do an incall due to living with housemates and that I would have to book a hotel. This was not a problem for me and I booked one that was in an area she claimed would be appropriate (Finchley). The meeting was to take place at 3pm the next day. The next morning (10am) I text her to confirm the booking and she told me that she was 'getting excited' and would see me later. Around 1pm I get a text from her saying that she has no money for travel and that I would need to send her cash for an Uber (about £40). This raised red flags for me and so I told her that there is plenty of time to take the train/bus and I could then discuss paying for an Uber for her to get home. I didn't receive any reply and she had blocked my number.

Foolishly I had booked the cheapest option at the hotel and was unable to get a refund on my booking. So, I had a 45 minute journey home, about £80 lost on a room I didn't need and left frustrated and angry :dash:

She could be a genuine WG but I won't be trying again.

I feel your pain for a wasted punt. It’s happened to me once before and I’d paid £250 for a luxury apartment for a second visit with an SP that I had had a great first time with. I scrambled for a plan B and had a shitty time. From her perspective asking her to take public transport might have made her think that you aren’t genuine / generous yourself and a bird in the hand is better than one who can still ghost you.

Here’s what I would have done:

1. Used booking.com app and reserved a room with a full cancellation policy.
2. Offered to order the Uber for her. This is to avoid the old deposit scam trick. (If for any reason you need to keep your Uber account usage discreet then download Bolt or similar for a one off use and then delete it.) you can always at your discretion take the cost of the Uber out of your booking fee (if you don’t want to repeat).
