Author Topic: Lost access to password so can’t login to PC or change my password  (Read 1495 times)

Offline snugs

As the title suggests I have lost access to my password as I haven’t had to login for a long time due to being logged in on my phone but I would like to login on my computer however I’m unable to due to losing access to my current password. I was wondering who I need to contact or what I need to do to reset my current password

You need to say if it’s Apple or PC, OS or Windows.

Do you have anything valuable on it? Can’t you raid your phone for the password?

Report your post as only Head1 or Admin can sort passwords.

Mea culpa I thought he’d lost the password to log on to his computer. (Reading his post while cooking something so not paying attention…)

That's how I read it as well
If it is a windows PC logon password you can reset it using a specific Linux distribution if the hard drive isn't encrypted, but doing it is not for the faint-hearted

OP has logged on but not clarified. Maybe he’s found a solution and couldn’t be bothered saying so.  :unknown:

He's still logging on here on a phone not a pc.

If it's Wondows then there are ways to recover it.

If it's password protected at the CMOS level then just remove the battery and that will blank your CMOS password and everything else in your CMOS but you can get it working again.

If it's Mac then you can probably go to an Apple store and get one of the 12 yr Mac geeks to unlock it for you if you have ID and can prove the computer is yours.

Nope. If you have all that they might offer to format the hard disk but they will tell you if you haven’t got the password you’re fucked as far as what’s on the disk.

That was blocked a few years back with the arrival of the UEFI BIOS, which is non-volatile

Must be a warning to install a decent password manager!

If you know your email which you set up for this account, there should be an option to recovewr your password, or set up a new one

Your bound to be asked some security questions, like date of birth, dogs name, school you went to

The password reset for this site isn't working, that's why I told him to report his post so admin can change it for him.

You said "this account" so I presumed you meant 'this account' as in the account on here.

The OP needs to clarify, all I know is he hasn't logged on via a computer since 2019 and I can't imagine he has been locked out of a PC for that long.

Well that was a ballache haha. Once I posted this I hit logout on my phone shortly after (by accident) and thought I’d royally fucked it and lost the account for good. However I managed to see a post from a Google search about the contact button at the bottom of the forum and sorted a password reset. Time to go write a review 😁
