You might think that you don't have to butter up someone if you are paying her. I've found that it really can help.

Also, before you hand the money over you can give a big smile and a you look gorgeous compliment. You are looking for her to be bubbly in return.

If she looks back at you stoney faced and says "how long do you want" then you have a clear warning that you might be on the verge of losing your money.

It was very good of that girl to refund you.
