Just one of those situations - I really did not feel comfortable and as you say not my first rodeo. Sometimes you need to go with gut feel and on this occasion it was to leg it.
Hence the ask to MM about his previous experience of the location.
 It's a tiny hotel with a small out front car park and I was pretty obviously out of place on that occasion with lots of eyes around.
Maybe just unlucky timing.

Yes it is a small parking area. I have never seen it as busy as you describe. However with all that distraction I would have carried on with the punt. I'd have walked through the 5 bar gate and filled my boots.
I've parked up and been the only car, now thats more of a worry I think.
You could park down the road and walk in which is 5 minutes or so.
