The Telegraph has picked up on a fairly old story. This happened some months ago, and in response the Samaritans changed their method of working so that whenever someone takes a phone call, a second Samaritan has to be listening to the responses of the first Samaritan. The downside is that it puts a limit on the number of phone calls that can be taken, as before this they could both be working the phones independently. Samaritans always work in pairs at a minimum, but previously this was for mutual support as some calls can be very traumatic. I just hope that this story doesn't impact too much on an organisation that is of immense value to a lot of people, especially at night and weekends when there is nobody else to turn to.
