Ever worry about how much punting is costing you? Fear not, at least it hasn’t cost as much as this poor sap. Don’t get me wrong I feel for the guy but it kind of goes to prove that nice guys that take people at face value are easy prey for scammers with a pretty face.

Reading through the article made me realise that my punting habit is actually quite sensible and rational. I’m not far off the guys age and like attractive girls that are way out of my league. Paying an independent hooker for her time so I can have my fun and she gets to make a better annual salary than I do with no emotional strings attached seems like a perfect situation.

Nasty people always find ways to exploit the vulnerabilities of others.
This isn't uncommon, there was a TV show regards similar incidences a few weeks ago. Guess what, there's very little legal come back on these scamming cunts either.

I saw that I think. There was a Scottish guy (who dressed in some very strange clothes in some sections....reminded me of Hoggle from Labyrinth in some scenes....but that's beside the point) who was being scammed and the presenters actually got the woman who was in the photos that the scammers used to go on webcam for him and actually tell him it wasn't her. Even after that the stooge said "I think I'm 95% convinced the woman is not real". Madness. Must be so frustrating for his family who are unable to get the message through that he is being scammed. Obviously hard for the victim who suffer the financial and emotional pain of it all.

Bloody Hell! You really couldn't make that one up, could you? Must say that, as much as I feel for the guy, his level of naivety was shocking. Twice divorced, but no sex before marriage?

On a positive note, he got out alive, which others haven't.

A sad story.
I don't agree with your statement, however, i.e. the title of the post. A bit of a leap in my opinion.

The poor guy got finessed. He's not the first and will not be the last, happens all the time in countries like Ukraine, Russia, Thailand, parts of south america or in general places where there is not much economic opportunity for women and their best option is to marry for money or sell sex. It's a completely different ball game over there. Guys go there thinking the women will love them unlike western women not realising that those women can be far more ruthless and lose everything lol.

What I meant was if the guy had have cheerfully found himself a WG and just paid for her time he would be in a better situation than he is. I’m a sucker for a pretty face and a sexy body but I don’t kid myself that a young fit girl is ping to fall for me.  There are plenty of good ones out there that will be a companion while they’re being paid and it’s a much more upfront and honest situation than that reported.

Firstly, as sad as this all is, and I feel sorry for the guy, but.....what the fuck was he thinking? Does anyone really send over $200K to another person in a 3rd world country to buy an apartment, without at least checking the market value or sold prices of similar apartments in the locality? Surely, after all these trips over there, he must have looked at some estate agent windows, or equivalent, and got a fair idea of how much an apartment costs in that city?

Secondly, years ago I had a tenant who stopped paying me rent. He was a lovely English chappie, and one day he rang me and apologised and explained that his Russian wife of a few years had left him. She had waited till she got permanent residency in the UK, and then told him that their marriage had been a sham all along, and she had a Russian bf back home all this time, who she was now going to bring over. He was heart-broken, and moved out of my property.

Women, love, lust, dreams, loneliness......a dangerous combination.

PS - this is a lesson for all men, esp youngsters starting out, to learn 'game'. Being able to read women, understand their little mind games, their shit-tests, the red flags, etc is a vital life skill.

Wasn't it Prof Stephen Hawking who said;

You’ve got to be really thick to get drawn into these scenarios, but unfortunately people are.

Dating sites are rife for it. I matched with a beauty from Thailand for fun knowing full well it was a scammer. Chatted back and forth and my every reply was just ridiculous bullshit.
The scammer unmatched me after a conversation regarding my salary
And job !
Told them I was an engineer that designed and built bridges. When further questioned I told them that my job was to build the bridges with lolly pop sticks and discarded McDonald’s cardboard straws. Put toy cars on the construction hope for the best then build real bridges based on that theory.
Never replied to me again !  :unknown:

She told me about you and I feel really sorry for her as you hurt her feelings. Poor thing.

I've sent her some cash so she can sort out visas and come over here to live with me,.......she is so beautoful is'nt she.
Mind you I am annoyed with the authorites over there keep putting up the cost of all the legal stuff she has to fill in.
I've paid for the flight too.
Like she suggested. its easier if i send her the money so she can book in her homeland as its cheaper that way....so she says.

Oh thats her now.
Email............"Can you advance me money for my cats passport"

Sorry, got to go and do a bank transfer.

How many times we have read the story like this, but it keeps happening again and again. Because for some people their cocks rule their head.

I fully agree punting makes perfect sense. For $250,000 he could f*ck thousands of Ukrainian girls better look and younger than his bride.

What is their reaction of you tell them your jobs are gigolos and get paid for sex ... lol

I don't think that man was a simp. I think he was just vulnerable. I have no sympathy for simps but do have some for lonely men searching for love in sheer naivety; only to get taken advantage of. Romance scams are a big thing.

I'm on a popular penpal site. Most of the replies I get to my ad are from very obvious scammers, but one almost had me fooled. She came across as a perfectly normal woman to start with, no flirting, no romance of any kind, just a pen friend, or email friend if you like. Then a couple of weeks in she tells me that she has terminal cancer, that she finds it hard to talk about it face to face with people, but that talking to me in emails helps. OK, still no sign of a scam, so I took her at face value for another week, then she says she hasn't got long to go and I have been such a good friend that she wants to leave me some money, I can donate it to charity or do what I like with it, but after she dies her financial representative will contact me to arrange transfer of the money. That's when the penny dropped, her "financial representative" would of course want my banking details. I told her in a very polite email that I didn't feel that I deserved her money and to give it to a more worthy cause and besides I would never reveal my bank details to anyone. Surprise surprise never heard from her again. Nice try though, makes a change from the old wanting to spend the rest of her life with me.

plenty of examples of women being scammed, its not gender specific, its the vulnerable meeting the ruthless, i imagine the internet has facilitated an age old practice.

This scam in very obvious. In the past we got similar email from Nigerian Princess. What about tricking them by giving them a dummy account, an account you just open and with £1 balance in it ??
