Searching by Reverse Image usually gives a result, but even this can mean some apps will pick up the fake pics, and others wont.

Thanks, CT, but you're already way over my head! I think I'll just have to stick to my current system which is to assume everything on VS is bogus unless proven otherwise.

You can install a browser plugin that makes it as simple as right-clicking on the photo and selecting "search" from the menu.  If you're interested i can DM you the details.  I use Yandex exclusively to search for this... None of the others come close to it for these types of images.
